I do know a 30+ year old male and a bunch of 30+ year old females who went to see New Moon this weekend. I do think the movies/books appeal to more than teen girls; but I think the core demographic is teen girls.

According to my niece, the theatres are full of six to sixteen yearolds girls.

Isn't the movie pg-13? I'm not sure. I'd say 12 to 40 year olds where I watched. Mostly young people but some parents and adults too. Also, a lot of guys could be seen as there were a lot of couples. And of corse, endless groups of girlfriends, which was my case, I was almost dragged by my roomie, she bought tickets days before and everything. Smiler

A Twilight TV-Series? I believe that's called Vampire Diaries if I'm not mistaken, lol. But really, the world does not need that. That woud completely ruin the novelty that is the Twilight saga.

I went to go see the movie midnight Friday morning, atthe 12:20 show. The theater was jampacked - I swear, I dont remember ever seeing it that crowded before - and the show itself was filled with mainly young girls and their friends, or couples, boyfriends/girlfriends, probably up to the age of 30. Can't say there was anyone older than that.

Plans to turn Twilight into a TV series, Pattinson reportedly has already signed on (in a 500 million dollar deal) with producers said to want Stewart.

Why bother? The movies are crap and there is already VD and True Blood on TV (I love True Blood) we do not need another vampire series.

Although I do wonder which network would go after this series. The CW could probably not afford it. It could be exactly what NBC needs although I think ABC or FOX are the most likely to want it. Probably too young for CBS audience.

Right..., I would not trust this source with a grain of salt. $500 million TV deal for someone like Robert Pattinson. Roll Eyes

I don't see the need for a TV adaptation. Books should be turned into TV or movies, not both.

Its kind of odd that your a guy in high school (a jock as you tell us) yet you watch The CW a lot and go to see New Moon. It strikes me as a bit odd, but whatever floats your boat.

What's odd is you trying to pigeonhole everybody into narrow little stereotypes. Nothing wrong with someone young having wide ranging curiosity and wide ranging taste in storytelling.

Or were you just trying to be nasty? Like I am now. How do you like it?

I am not affraid to do anything. Or go and see any movie. I don't care what people think of me. I like what I like and yanks is just a sad excuse because of the fact that he buys into all the stereotypes.

Well said Walter and lager. yank asked a stupid question. It strikes odd that someone in high school watches The CW and teen phenomenon Twilight? Roll Eyes

That said, I was disappointed in the movie. While the production was vastly improved, the acting continues to be horrible, Stewart and Pattinson are horribly miscast, just no presence at all. All in all, Twilight was better. Not surprising though, it's the only readable book of the series. The rest is like bad fanfiction. I can see why it's so appealing to some people though. The romance is so overly dramatic and teenagers relate to that "it's the end of the world if he/she leaves me" kind of thing, plus the fantasy world in which the romance takes place. I think it's a good concept, the writers(of books and scripts) and actors just destroy it. It's my 2 cents. Wink

My question wasn't stupid. The CW often skews very female, so asking why a guy in high school watches The CW and New Moon is a very valid question. He can like what he wants, but I'm just wondering why.

For the hot girls? (or hot guys depending on sexual orientation) I don't see the shocker. I'd be interested in seeing some numbers on the 12-17 and 18-32 male demos. I bet it's higher than 1.0 for most CW shows and way higher for SPN and SV.

Question about New Moon was valid:
Meyer's books have been a phenomenon among women and girls. Females made up 80 percent of the audience for "New Moon."

Th PG-13 rating doesn't prevent anyone under 13 from seeing the movie, it's only a guidance for parents that children under 13 shouldn't. But from what I've seen, that warning goes by the wayside for most parents.

You weren't making any valid points or asking any valid questions. You were having a crack at Walter. I'm guessing you have a beef with him. You don't throw around derogatory words like "odd" and belittling phrases like "whatever floats your boat" when you have a genuine question or want a real discussion. Not to mention the stupid overused stereotypes - leave those to bad television show writers, of which there are way too many, as shown by the state of our scripted television.

Did the CW loses a station or 2? Seems like the CW's normal coverage is usually 95%

I have been wondering this myself. This Thursday everything was 93% because there was a Miami preemption. The Thursday before that, Vampire Diaries was 95% and Supernatural was 92% (VD aired out of regular timeslot, SPN aired over weekend I believe). After last Thursday, EVERYTHING on CW was 94% coverage... but I heard nothing about preemptions until, again, the Thursday Miami preemption. So I kicked CW back down to 94% regular coverage (which is where it was at until the start of this season, when it ticked up to 95%).

It's been said already but I'll try again. If you want the original links, pay Nielsen. Bring a big checkbook.
