PIFN: GATED COMMUNITY (Bowled Over) <--- REPEAT It’s been a couple weeks since Spencer bought a bowling alley, re-named “Bowled Over”, and appears to be having success with his purchase. The guys - Brian, Nate, and Duncan - don’t share the skepticism expressed by Spencer’s wife, Tara. They love the bowling alley. The guys view the bowling alley as a getaway from their stresses, and their wives, and it allows them to get in a couple of frames too.
Spencer decides to help his unemployed friend Brian out, and offers him a job working at the bowling alley. Brian is unsure about the arrangement at first, fearing that it could hurt his friendship with Spencer, but after talking about it with his wife, Sam, Brian decides to give it a try. Unfortunately, it isn’t long before Brian’s worst fears are realized, as Spencer gives him menial tasks to perform (shining the rental shoes or waxing the bowling balls) and treats Brian more like a “go-fer” instead of a friend and even a competent employee.
At least Brian can go home and get away from Spencer’s demanding boss persona…but not for long. Soon, Spencer is treating Brian like an employee, even when they are not at the bowling alley. Unhappy with the situation, Brian has had enough and finally tells Spencer that he is quitting. Reluctant to tell Spencer the real reason for his quitting, Brian makes up an excuse in order to salvage their friendship. After he has quit, a bowling alley patron walks up to Brian and asks him a question, but Brian breaks out into a smile and answers “don’t ask me, I don’t work here.”
