Over the past week, I've noticed that the new ads for Reaper have made a noticeable shift towards relationships ("Sam has finally met the perfect girl...but the devil is making his love life hell") and away from the comedic fire-and-brimstone ads that ran over summer.

Could this shift in tone be a hint that The CW is considering re-pairing this show with Gossip Girls or One Tree Hill at some point down the road?

Well, it's kind of a silly premise, but the execution has been solid. A couple of laugh out loud moments in the hour. I'll be around for episode 2.

I'm not following your logic. You think they are focusing more on the relationship angle because they plan to stop pairing it with a show specifically about relationships (B&tG)?

In any case, I've finished watching episode #1 of Reaper and I will be back for episode #2. The weakest link in the series is the main character - way too much like the main character on USA network's: 'Psych'. Still, the show was funnier than any of Monday night's CBS sitcoms. I hope this episode got a good sampling so people had the chance to see that humor.

I too enjoyed the pilot, very well-crafted and funny...and with the best music selection for a series that I've heard in a long time (that opening Beck song seems like it was written for the show!).

Mr. Kevin Smith's influence was felt throughout the pilot, from the Silent Bob side-kick to the Batman reference ("the lady or the tiger"). I anticipate that the writers going forward will be giving all the best lines to Mr. Ray Wise, who was truly superb.

I agree. It was really hard not to like the devil. Wink
The music was also great here as well as in Chuck and Gossip Girl, which no surprise comes from OC head honcho Josh Schwartz.

Since I don't watch Psych, I guess he's fine for me.

The guy was basically just doing a George Hamilton impersonation, though.

I don't care. It was still good. This show was very entertaining, therefore Dawn Ostroff will probably find a way to kill it. I'm guessing this will be where Puddy Cats ends up at midseason, which is a real shame.
