I strongly believe OTH ratings are truely damaged by american idol, in the fall, OTH was getting 3- 3.7 mill easily and at the pinnacle reaching above 4 mill. But when AI competes with us, its terrible, so i believe that OTH can be a 4 mill viewing show whihc would be one of the strongest on the CW if paired with ANTM.

SO when the season finale for OTH is in June this time and about 3 or 4 episodes without AI , i think its possible for OTH to get 4 mill viewers, now since it is in the summer that may cause that to not happen

One Tree Hill's problem is that it's too lead-in dependent. The show is moving onto it's 5th year - it has to prove it can work by itself or it doesn't need to go on. It should be helping launch other shows, not riding ANTM's coattails.

Comparing Fall to Spring, sure OTH dips due to AI. But not as significant as when it had a weaker lead-in ... OTH's got to shape up and start pulling in numbers on its own ...

Well One Tree Hill won't have America's Next Top Model as a lead-in after tonight's episode. America's Next Top Model helped One Tree Hill alot before American Idol came along. So, I guess it really depends on Hidden Palm's ratings and OTH fans. If Hidden Palms has decent ratings, it may help OTH. But I agree, One Tree Hill needs to get above 3 million viewers on its own, without a lead-in. I'm not so sure it could do that now.

Anyone know what the ratings were last season? Wasn't One Tree Hill on at 7/8pm and was a lead-in? What were the ratings?

oth last season didnt have a lead in and were the lead in themselves and still pulled in above 3 mill on average i believe, and they were going against ANTM

but when ratings were best was when they were on tuesday nights at 9, 2 years ago

One other thing i believe is hurting oth ratings is that they know they can catch all episdoes on the internet so they dont have to watch it live but rather watch it later so they can watch something else at that time like AI because its difficukt to find AI on the internet compared to OTH
