This is a very surprising development, and especially coming only a week after debuting an ambitious new kidvid schedule.

The kidsWB franchise ranks a strong second place finisher on Saturday mornings, behind only ABC, and well ahead of FOX, NBC and CBS. And it is where all the Warner cartoon franchises are kept alive, from the mascot Bugs Bunny to all the Superheroes, even The Batman.

If only The CW could find someone to contract out Sunday nights to?

Another example of Moonves cutting Warner Brothers out of the CW. Not a good sign for the network. I also remember when Fox was number one in kids thanks to Power Rangers.

Actually, as the story states, kids know to tune in Nick or Disney for their programming. a 2 hour block on one of the nets is not happening anymore.

But they aren't getting rid of the kids programming block, they are just turning it over to 'outhouse' rather than 'inhouse' production, right? They are still expecting kids to tune in on Saturday morning, they are just changing the cartoon lineup so that they will now, likely, be expecting the kids to tune in for cable reruns that have been repurposed for this broadcast.

If any network (CW, FOX, etc...) really wants kids to be interested in Saturday morning cartoons, they need to make those cartoons first run, interesting, and tied in to some sort of toy available at the stores.

But how much different will their's be from Fox's kids block? That is the key question. Its clear that kids go to Nick or Cartoon Network for their shows, so why put on shows that are not coming from one of those sources that kids watch? I'm guessing their ratings will hurt from this.

I thought Kids' WB was supposed to have some synergies with the Cartoon Network. I don't think any of the shows (particularly the current incarnations of Tom & Jerry and Scooby-Doo) are on CN.

Does anyone else want to know what the CW executives are smoking?

I mean they pretty much proved to us that 1 + 1 = 0.7!
They can't launch a new show to save their life.
They've almost always last place.
Airing static on Sundays might actually yield more viewers.
And now they want more responsibility?

The Saturday morning Kids WB on the CW is doing great which translates to stellar by CW standards. They should fix primetime before they decide to take on Saturday mornings--unless it was Viacom-CBS's plan to destroy the WB and dump their failing UPN network.....
