I think Austin Golden Hour would do better than How To Teach Filty Rich Girls or whatever they are renaming it. However, it seems lke AGH is dead.

I agree and just screams Gossip Girl ripoff. Doesn't Cdub know stuff like Greys Anatomy is even more popular with the folks they're trying to target than the teeny bopper shows? Not that AGH is Greys, but if I had to chose to emulate one or the other, it would be Greys by a landslide. Or better yet, shove Stylista or whatever that trash is to Fridays and give us AGH on Wednesdays at 9 and actually develop a full schedule. quote: Originally posted by WlcmBlueBloodWorstEnemy: I think Austin Golden Hour would do better than How To Teach Filty Rich Girls or whatever they are renaming it. I just read that next season Smallville is only going to be given a 13 episode run. Can anyone confirm that? If that is true, than next season Thursday nights could look like this...
8pm---Smallville(Reaper, mid-season) 9pm---Supernatural.
Peace!

I read that too. It seems odd given that it is one of the CW's highest rated shows and it's in probably (hopefully) final season. It could be a cost issue.

Yeah, but you would have thought we would have already heard about a reduce season order (like we did for Gilmore Girls when they were trying to keep it).
What it might mean, and I hope I am wrong. Is that they will use Reaper to air when Smallville and Supernatural would normally be in repeats (the most of December, Most of January and part of March). That would be about 13 episodes.
And while I can see it helping the CW, by having original programming (even if just an hour) on through the season (and of the same genre or similar), it would be a struggle for Reaper to show much strength in ratings. Those are typically lower viewer periods, and would have no leadin or lead out support besides reruns.
Though on the upside, I would expect the expectations would be for the ratings to not be as competitive during those periods.

I agree with you that it might mean a split season for Smallville with Reaper filling in during the repeat season on the network. The key here is that it would mean a significant break from the airwaves for Smallville AND a significant break afterwards for Reaper.
The other possibility is that Smallville will run non-stop through its 22 episodes and then Reaper will take over afterwards as a setup for the following year's schedule. The key here is: can Smallville put episodes out fast enough to finish up their 22 episode/season by mid/end of February?

I didn't think of that at all. But unless they start filming (and writing early I can't see tehm getting a full 22 episode season done by the end of February? But I could be wrong. And if they did that it would certainly be a better performer by itself then Reaper would be.

Don't bet on Smallville being a very good performer next year. The show has been slipping already and cast members are jumping ship rather than riding it down to the bottom next year.

I would expect it and others to drop between 10-20%.
