My suggestion... is to put as much effort into programming Friday as possible. If the CW wants to keep a throwaway night, let it be Sunday. My rationale is that Sunday's have always been there worse night, while Friday's have always been one of there better performers. Hypothetically, it would take much more work to program a night that has three hours and has always been a weak spot vs. a night that only has two hours. 'Smackdown' has kept the seat (or timeslot) warm... Also, Friday's are looked upon as the 'death slot night' by other networks, why not subvert the viewers perception and it make it one of the best nights for the net. The CW can't play the game (as we've all noticed), so it's time for them to make their own rules and stop conforming. Lastly, they should try not to pit their shows against similar demo-skewing competition.

Why are you snaking shows from other networks? Dollhouse already has a 6 episode commitment from FOX and Fringe is looking to make their own way on the network that actually has it in development. So before you start penciling in other people's shows, perhaps we should stick with what is actually the CW's shows.

Either that or I get to do something like this...

Sunday
7:00 Green Arrow
8:00 Reaper
9:00 Star Trek: Academy

Monday
8:00 Friday Night Lights
9:00 October Road

Tuesday
8:00 Gossip Girl
9:00 One Tree Hill

Wednesday
8:00 America's Next Top Model
9:00 The World According to Barnes

Thursday
8:00 Smallville
9:00 Supernatural

Friday
8:00 New Comedy
8:30 Everybody Hates Chris
9:00 The Game
9:30 New Comedy

Sunday
7:00 Wednesday Reality Encore
8:00 Beauty & the Geek (new time) / Who Wants to a Farmer (new show)
9:00 Friday Night Lights (from NBC) or Undercover (new show)
The sitcoms are doing pitiful back on Sundays. Ship them off to Friday where the WB once had a strong comedy block. Most of the CW pilots sound like crap, so maybe save the Warner Brother's produced Friday Night Lights or take a chance on Undercover.

Monday
8:00 Gossip Girl
9:00 One Tree Hill (new time)
Give me my soapy girly dramas all on one night.

Tuesday
8:00 Reaper
9:00 SuperNatural (new time)
Reaper gets lucky and SuperNatural gets a slightly easier time period.

Wednesday
8:00 America's Next Top Model / Trya's Fashion Magazine Show (new show) / Top Model
9:00 The Collection (new show)
All fashion, all night.

Thursday
8:00 Smallville
9:00 Smallville Spin-Off: Green Arrow (new show)
This should be able to hold the Smallville audience and possibly take it's place the following year.

Friday
8:00 Everybody Hates Chris (new time)
8:30 Untitled Sherri Shepherd Project (new show)
9:00 The Game (new time)
9:30 8 Days a Week(new show)
The WB had a successful comedy block on Fridays once upon a time. Maybe that audience is still out there.

Thursday
8:00 Smallville
9:00 Reaper

Friday

8:30 Aliens in America
9:00 new comedy
9:30 new comedy

Sunday
7:00 ANTM repeats

If I had control I would just cancel the network and find new homes for the few shows worth saving.

Sunday
6:00 Supernatural: BEGINNINGS
7:00 Top Model Encore
8:00 The Collection (NEW)
9:00 The Game
9:30 8 Days a Week (NEW)

Bring back the Beginnings franchise to help generate new interest in Supernatural. Take advantage of the Top Model encore to air similar themed programming and cap off the night with sitcoms.

Monday
8:00 Gossip Girl
9:00 One Tree Hill
Both shows have already been renewed and this is the CW's plan as soon as the pussycat wannabes finish their run. I think ratings will be good (by CW standards) and a possible summer run for Gossip Girl will likely help.

Tuesday
8:00 Undercover (NEW)
9:00 SuperNatural (New TIME)
Undercover seems stupid, but it's one of the few pilots we have to choose from and the 8pm Tuesday isn't too competition until Idol time.

Wednesday
8:00 America's Next Top Model / Trya's Fashion Magazine Show (new show) / Top Model
9:00 Everybody Hates Chris (New TIME)
8:30 Untitled Sherri Shepherd Project (NEW)
Top Model did well on UPN when it followed sitcoms on Tuesdays. Maybe reversing the formula is the answer.

Thursday
8:00 Smallville
9:00 Smallville Spin-Off: Green Arrow (NEW)
Spinning off Smallville is the smartest thing the CW can do right now and would likely keep a sizeable chunk of the Smallville audiance.

Friday
8:00 Reaper / Beauty & the Geek (New Time)
9:00 Moonlight (from CBS)
A light fluffy show like Beauty & the Geek could capture the precious demo. Since Reaper is out performing it, just have 1 Geek cycle. If CBS is really planning on pulling the plug on Moonlight, ship it off to the CW. It's produced by Warner Brothers, so it'll be keeping money in the family.

Fall 2008/Midseason/March-May

Monday:
8:00 - One Tree Hill/ The Collection/ OTH
9:00 – Gossip Girl/ How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days/ Gossip Girl

Ok, so we ALL know comedies do not work on Mondays. So, I kept the CW’s April lineup. I just switched GG and OTH. GG seems more eight o’clockish to me….
In January, give OTH a break and insert The Collection. Also, give GG a break and launch another new show, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. In middle March bring GG and OTH with new eppys.

Tuesday:
8:00 – Smallville: The Final Season
9:00 – SV Spin-off – Justice League
The upcoming year is bound to be SV’s last. So, launch a final season countdown similar to the WB’s 7th Heaven campaign – try to bring back old viewers.
Since it is Smallville’s last year, curiosity for the show should be high. This would be the perfect time to get Justin Hartley and the gang and develop a Justice League Spin-off. It would be like “Cool Superhero Night”.

Wednesday:
8:00 – ANTM/ BATG/ ANTM: U Decide!
9:00 – 90210/ How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls/ 90210

Bring Top Model back in September but with a twist: Guys and Girls (or just guys, either one) – something to bring back interest in Top Model. What else do you program behind your most successful show? One of the most talked about pilots this season – 90210! This will definitely be a super ratings night.
In January bring back BATG, hopefully last time. Behind it launch, How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls, it will surely fill the void left by 90210.
In March start ANTM back up but with an even bigger twist: A LIVE performance from GUYS and GIRLS on Wednesdays! America will vote for their fave Model. Will kind of be like American Idol. Follow this revamped ANTM with the second half of 90210.

Thursday:
8:00 – Reaper/ Reaper/ ANTM: Results!
8:30 - The Game
9:00 – Supernatural/ FWAW/ Supernatural

In the fall move Reaper to the lead-off spot. The only reason SN is not there because we want it to keep its dark, scary edge. In January air Farmer Wants a Wife following Reaper.
In March, give Reaper a vacation and air the Top Model Results Show. This will be 30 minutes long. Follow it with The Game and then at 9, Supernatural.

Friday:
8:00 – EHC
8:30 – Untitled Sherry Shepherd Project
9:00 – The Game/ The Game/ Nanny Dallas
9:30 – 8DAW

Since comedies have failed on Mondays AND Sundays, try Fridays. Have reliable EHC lead off the night. Launch a new show, Untitled Sherry Shepherd Project, behind it. From there #1 comedy The Game will be the lead in for new show 8DAW.
In March, The Game will move behind ANTM. Nanny Dallas will take over the 9pm spot. Having an hour worth of family comedy lead-ins should boost ratings. Families who have nothing to do on Friday nights can stay home and a night full of laughter with the new CW comedies!

Sunday:
7:00 – DRAMA Repeats
8:00 – Wrecking Ball/ Undercover/ Wrecking Ball
9:00 - Austin Gold Hour – new hospital show

Since the 7:00 hour is rarely watched, have various drama repeats. At 8 premiere legal show Wrecking Ball. Out of Wrecking Ball, launch the 24 meets ER meets Grey’s Anatomy show, Austin Golden Hour. This night will be different from every other CW night due to the genres of these shows.
In January, allow Undercover to have a short 7-8 eppy run. Then bring back Wrecking Ball.

Returning……………..(#) = # of eppys to order
*Smallville (22)
*Supernatural (22)
*ANTM (11-13)
*Reaper (22)
*BATG (8)
*EHC (22)
*The Game (22)
*Gossip Girl (22)
*One Tree Hill (22)
*FWAW (6-8)

NEW!
*ANTM: U Decide (12-14)
*ANTM: Results (12-14)
*90210 (13-22….depending on ratings)
*Wrecking Ball (13)
*Undercover (6-8)
*Austin Golden Hour (13-22….depending on ratings)
*Nanny Dallas (8-13…..depending on ratings)
*Untitled Sherry Shepherd Project (13-22….depending on ratings)
*8DAW (13-22….depending on ratings)
*The Collection (6-8)
*How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls (6-8)
*How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (6-8)
*SV Spin-off! (13-22….depending on ratings)

Summer:
*13 (8)
*Reaper (last couple of eppys)
*Fashion Magazine Show (8)

Canclled
*PCD Present:
*Crowned
*Girlfriends
*Life is Wild
*Aliens in America
*WWE FNS

The goal is to have the least amount of repeats possible and gave a variety of shows. The CW needs to try new formats on programs because the current formats and procedures taking place ARE NOT working. Will the CW be able to afford all of these new shows? Maybe not. That’s why I have small episode ordered numbers. To make money (profit and ratings) You have to spend money.

New shows in bold

Sunday
7:00- America's Next Top Model (Encores)
8:00- Everybody Hates Chris
8:30- Aliens In America or "New Comedy Series"
9:00- The Game
9:30- "Untitled Sherri Shepherd Project"

*CW Comedies shouldnt move... again... leave them there and hopefully the net can create new hits; AiA should only be renewed if they have nothing to replace it with

Monday
8:00- One Tree Hill (New Timeslot)
9:00- "Austin Golden Hour

*OTH would be an ok lead in to any new drama; if AGH has a young cast, then it could do well; they should definitely try getting Justin Hartley as a main character since he has a contract with the net and "8 Days A Week" was cancelled

Tuesday
8:00- Gossip Girl (New Timeslot)
9:00- Supernatural (New Timeslot)

*GG and SN may not seem too compatible, but SN did air after Gilmore Girls when it first premiered and it did fine. Also, SN has proven that it can do well without Smallville.

Wednesday
8:00- America's Next Top Model
9:00- "Untitled 90210 Spinoff"

*Could be very successful night for the network.

Thursday
8:00- Smallville
9:00- Reaper (New Timeslot)

*We'll see how Reaper continues to do after Smallville, but I think The CW should renew it, they dont have many shows to replace it with

Friday
8:00-10:00- Movie Of The Week

*Its either movies of the week or bad reality shows, and movies would probably be cheaper

Other Midseason Shows- "The Collection," "How To Teach Filthy Rich Girls," "Wrecking Ball," "Undercover," Untitled Fashion Magazine Project, Beauty & The Geek

Sunday

7:00 America's Next Top Model Encores
8:00 Austin Golden Hour
9:00 Reaper

Comedies don't work here. Cheap reality fare doesn't excel. ANTM repeats do decently well. Give Reaper a second chance on Sunday at 9 to gain an audience. There are no sci fi shows on that timeslot so they should dominate a market.

Monday

8:00 Gossip Girl
9:00 90210 Spinoff

Teen drama night. 90210 spinoff has been rumored to go here for the last week or so. Smart move.

Tuesday

8:00 Everybody Hates Chris
8:30 The Game
9:00 How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

Instead of a night of comedies, try breaking them up to make an hour block. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days should work with the comedy audience.

Wednesday

8:00 America's Next Top Model
9:00 Undercover

IMDB says that Undercover will go after America's Next Top Model.

Thursday

8:00 Smallville
9:00 Supernatural

No reason to split up the night. It is one of the few that works.

Friday

8:00 Beauty and the Geek
9:00 Farmer Wants A Wife

Cheap reality fare would help them program a night and not resort to movies, specials, or filler.

Mid-season: The Collection, Tyra Banks fashion magazine project, Untitled Sherry Shepherd Project, One Tree Hill, 13 (assuming it does well in the summer try out), Wrecking Ball

Cancelled: Crowned, Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious, Aliens in America, Girlfriends, Life Is Wild

Suggested CW Fall 2008-09 Schedule:

Mondays
8:00 Gossip Girl
9:00 Untitled 90210 Spin-off

Personally, I am disappointed with the descriptions of the 90210 spin-off making the rounds. It sounds more like “Gossip Girl: West Coast” and looks to have only the barest of connections to the defunct Fox hit. Overall, the spin-off seems more compatible with “Girl” than the other most likely candidate – “One Tree Hill”.

Tuesday
8:00 One Tree Hill (new time)
9:00 Austin Golden Hour (working title)

It may seem like a daunting task, pitting “One Tree Hill” against Fox’s “American Idol” in the spring, but the times that “Hill” has faced “Idol” this season, the viewer loss has only been minimal. The new series “Austin Golden Hour” (please change this unwieldy name) seems to be compatible with “Hill”, since it has morphed from a high school drama to a young-adult drama.

Wednesday
8:00 America’s Next Top Model / Untitled Fashion Magazine Project
9:00 The Collection

The CW may want to try and find a new reality franchise, since “Top Model” has shown some signs of bleeding viewers this spring. The untitled reality series were contestants compete to become assistants at a fashion magazine could be used to bridge the gap between the two seasonal cycles of “Model”. The comedy-drama “The Collection”, set in the world of fashion could prove compatible with “Model”.

Thursday
8:00 Supernatural (new time)
9:00 Reaper (new day and time)

Both “Supernatural” and “Reaper” explore the aspects of the supernatural (although “Reaper” does it more tongue-in-cheek). Perhaps, they could benefit being back-to-back on the same night. Normally, I would have left this night alone, but with next season expected to be the last for “Smallville” (but, this year was supposed to be the final year, too) allowing the younger “Supernatural” to anchor the night might be a wise move.

Friday
8:00 Everybody Hates Chris (new day and time)
8:30 Untitled Sheri Sheppard Project
9:00 The Game (new day and time)
9:30 Eight Days a Week / How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

The WB enjoyed modest success on Fridays for several years with their “Reba”-anchored T.G.I.F. style block; perhaps it could work for the CW as well. Both “Chris” and “The Game” are likely to return, so they can be paired up with two new comedies. The 9:30 time period can be used for either “Eight Days a Week” or “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, depending on whichever does better with test audiences.

Sunday
7:00 America’s Next Top Model (encores)
8:00 Smallville (new day)
9:00 Undercover

Sunday was a thorn in the WB’s side and that hasn’t changed for the CW. Since “Smallville” will likely be ending its run, allow it to have its swan song on Sundays (it couldn’t possibly do worse than anything the CW has thrown on Sundays this season). Pair it up with the “21 Jump Street” inspired “Undercover”. Both could flow well, since the characters on both series will be hiding their true identities. The 7:00 hour could also be used to encore episodes of popular/new drama series.

Midseason
How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls – it could air on Fridays, allowing the two new comedies to run with only minimal encore airings.
Wrecking Ball – normally I wouldn’t pick this series, but the CW needs to have at least one drama sitting on the bench (did the netlet learn nothing from its nearly midseason-less freshman season?).
Beauty and the Geek – possibly used on Tuesday (to relieve “One Tree Hill” when the “Idol” juggernaut starts) or Wednesdays (between “Top Model” cycles).
