With reports of The CW canceling Veronica Mars, fans of the girl detective can take heart in this piece of exclusive news: CW's buzzed-about new drama Gossip Girl, based on the best-selling teen book series, will feature voiceover narration by none other than... Kristen Bell as Gossip Girl herself. Gossip Girl will reportedly air this fall on The CW on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., after Top Model.

Good move by the CW. Not only will it have a Top Model lead in, but Bell will bring over some of the Veronica Mars fans. Not that there are very many, but every little bit helps when it comes to the CW.

Very cool news.

I guess I'm going to have to check out what this show is about.

It should also stop alot of the fanbase from tirelessly bashing the network after they cancel VM. It'll be tougher for them to boycott and they may be *slightly* less motivated to spam the CW with angry emails.

I can almost confirm this, as I just got the Gossip Girl pilot and the V.O. definitely sounds like Kristen's voice.

I've always wondered if the fanfare with Veronica Mars was more about Veronica Mars or Kristen Bell. If Rob Thomas created a new pilot and casted Kristen Bell in the lead and it was a success, would the VM fans really even care about VM anymore?

i think there's factions of both. but my "allegiance", if it can so be called, is with VM. it was always the magic of the show (especially S1, and most of the long-arc aspects of S2) that attracted me, even if KB is good looking (understatement).

i would probably watch an RT show starring KB. I dunno if I'm a KB fan to the point of following her anywhere (i mean.. pulse?). but i'd definitely be interested in RT's next project.

I love Kristin Bell! Why only voiceovers??? She should really star! Rob should write!

Gossip Girl will probably do really well...The books the series is based on sell like hotcakes (and are constantly checked out at the library I work at)...
