I can already tell you there will be loads of posts picking apart the mistakes on the new version of 90210. I think its a must to have as many 90210 alums guest star and do archs as possible. Ian Ziering would be a good pick up to the cast. So would Tori Spelling.

You're kind of making it sound like its going to be "remake" when its definitely going to be a "spinoff" (at least according to E!). So Rob Thomas (assuming he becomes executive producer) can pretty much go anywhere with the series that he wants; as long as there's an ensemble group of teens (probably around 8) and it takes place in Beverly Hills, I think it'll be fine.

Has there ever been a black family drama? I guess I've never recalled one airing. Not even on UPN. The only drama on UPN with a black lead I recall is Kevin Hill.

1. "Lincoln Heights" on ABC FAMILY. Excellent family drama. I keep hoping that ABC gives it a summer Friday run.

2. "City of Angels" on CBS. Well done medical drama that CBS gave two half seasons to.

There was that show Platinum that aired after Buffy when Haunted got canceled before UPN tried Top Model.

13 - Looks to be the love child of Fear Factor and Survivor. 13 contestants are run through horror-inspiring challenges in spooky locations. Set to be a summer series this year.

At least they havn't given up on the summer so far like they did last year. Too bad they wasted Beauty & the Geek for two cycles. Would have been great summer filler.

We can only hope ABC is done giving ABC family their Fridays after last summer's disastrous ratings. Never saw City of Angels but obviously did quite poorly or it would've lasted longer than that.

Wrecking Ball - Variety.com has it as...

quote:

revolves around a young politico from a well-known family dynasty. When his electoral ambitions are derailed by a scandal, a campaign aide -- with whom he has a feisty relationship -- convinces him to use his connections to help a cancer patient fighting the medical establishment. He and the aide are then inspired to open a law firm devoted to helping out seemingly lost causes.

This kind of sounds like one of the pilots called I Am Paige Wilson that CW passed on last year, only with a male as the lead this time. I don't see it fitting in with the CW's lineup.

ETA...

Austin Golden Hour - Texas medical drama following ER surgeons and EMTs. Set in real time (like 24), it follows the hour following a trauma as well as the characters personal lives.

Personally I love anything filmed in Austin. And it better be Austin not Vancouver.

l think some people wanted the cw to pick up a medical drama and thats exactly what athey did

kinda mad about Eight days a week though because it had star power and all it needed was a rewrite on the pilot but l hope they got something up their sleeve though because this news of all the pilots actually sounds good

I'm glad the CW realized that without Smackdown (and Smallville ending) that they are going to need more shows that appeal to male viewers.....

the casting news for pilots is all for hour long projects. Are they going to make any new comedies or are they throwing in the towel?

CW recently combined the comedy promotion department into the drama promotion department so that all scripted fare is under the same marketing group. Ostroff did recently mention that additional commedy pickups may be announced this summer (apparently after the upfront presentation).

I wish there was an updated list of what they have in dev. I can't find one without dead things still on it like 8 Days, etc. Anyone?
