1) For Friday Nights, the CW should try a TGIF style night. Focus on the 10-17 year old that is at home while the parents are out having fun.

2) Take advantage of the WB's DC Comics Connection. They have Smallville, so tray, again, at using another Superhero. Perhaps take a slightly different tone that what Smallville has. Perhaps something on the lighter side.

3) Somewhere, some how, find a sport program. Heck, give the IFL a try. If MyTV was paying 20K per episode, they could easily get it for 50K or under. Try a new night, like Tuesday Wednesday. this time of year, theres not much going on.

4) Limit your encore airings. You only air 13 hours, so you should be able to air 12 hours of original programming, at least.

IFL? No way. That garbage doesn't fit with CW at all. It would be an even worse fit than Smackdown!.

How about something slightly different like Women's softball?

Now Airing NPF games would be pretty awsome. I know I would watch it.

Market the bigger names like Jennie Finch and Cat Osterman. Not sure it would do 3 million a game, but it woild be something different for Network TV.

My whole family loves watching softball, especially when the US Softball team is playing.

The CW NEEDS new leadership and somebody to greenlight better pilots!

If the Wonder Woman movie is dead, bring her to the CW in her own series...

Actually, 8 Days a Week got awful reviews. I do like the thought of something with a minority cast getting picked up.

Read today that the Justice League movie is back on track. Script being polished and director about to be confirmed.

Um... lots of shows that were hits (by UPN standards) got aweful reviews; Eve, Girlfriends, The Parkers, ummm.... okay, so there aren't THAT many, but I think the cast (Mario Lopez, Christina Millian, and um... that girl from the My Girl Movies) are the caliber of stars that can be a descent enough draw. I mean CW expectations for sitcoms are pretty low at this point... maybe get the other twin from Sister, Sister to be on the show and it'll get some more viewers since one of them is on The Game.

Yeah, but the Joss Whedon Wonder Woman solo movie is dead. So maybe she (or Cat Woman) could be given the Smallville treatment. Or a Green Arrow series could be a great Smallville companion show allowing Supernatural to anchor another night.

Had they picked up Aquaman last year like they should've, its possible they would've already had a new hit already on the air. Next season is make or break. If they don't get at least one new hit drama, its curtains. Smallville will end and another major hole will develop.

Joss's Wonder Woman is dead, but WB went ahead with a different treatment from a different writer. Wonder Woman is still alive, just not Joss's version of her.

If this ever does make it into production, they need to completely reinvent the character with a new history.

I like the Super Hero of WW, but not the backstory.

But, I wonder, given the slide of similar Female Action Hero shows (Bionic Woman and Sarah Connor) if this would have the same fate?

How many of you are familiar with the char "Green Arrow"? If not familiar, here's some skinny from a longtime reader:

basically, he's an athletic archer of superhuman ability who develops all sorts of trick arrows for specific tasks, such as a rope-securing arrow, boxing glove arrow, cutting arrow, explosive arrow, even a boomerang arrow. The char first appeared in comix in 1941. He had a secret ID of Oliver Queen, rich playboy, former mayor of "Star City". He had fallen overboard on an ocean cruise & had been forced to hunt for survival on a small island, developing his archery skill to an ultra level. When criminals landed on the island, Ollie captured them with some trick arrows he'd invented, & returned to civilization with them in tow on their boat.

However, no one had a solid copyright on the char, and several different origins were invented for him by different writers, and even different storylines. But there's one common denominator for all of them: he was an archer of extraordinary ability who invented trick arrows to both fight crime & perform rescues, wore a costume such as Robin Hood woulda worn, and had a teenage sidekick nicknamed Speedy.
There are several storylines still around for GA, including modern ones with an adult Speedy, and GA's son Connor Hawke, himself a gifted archer, so the TV writers have plenty of material to choose from.

I believe there's lotsa potential for the right writers and cast to make a hit TV show, as the GA char is familiar to many people & is still a current comic book char. I believe GA has more potential than Aquaman and Aqualad.

But this is merely one opinion....

I think Green Arrow series is only really possibility for the network. Although, aquaman would have been cool. Fans already identify justin hartley with arrow. Supergirl has not made enough of an impact, she does'nt really stand out on smallville. I don't know if anyone would touch the catwoman series after the movie and birds of prey flop. But its an option, they could bring in Buffy vets david fury/marti noxon or Charmed's Brad Kern run it.

Anybody think of Daredevil?
