I just wanted to comment on how ABC always seems to get great casts to star in their new dramas since the Housewives/Greys take off a few years ago. This one certainly doesn't lack in cast and I think Private Practice is a perfect pair for it. ABC should win Wednesdays in the demo this fall and be a competitive second in the spring.

This show reminds me of the old serials of the 1980s...Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest. I hope it does not succeed. What is with all the new soap operas this fall? Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, Gossip Girl, Life is Wild, and Big Shots look to provide nothing beyond soap elements.

Did you see the preview? I'll buy the idea of 'family drama' right up until a second family was introduced. The other family also has a hotel, but theirs is popular. Haves vs. have nots show...and of course the second family provides for a whole bunch of interrelationship possibilities. This show is a soap. just like 7th Heaven. Do some people like soaps? Of course. Still, there are too many new soaps coming out this fall.
I really want this series to succeed, which is why I was hoping that it would either air after Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday (if DWTS was moved to 8pm and this series was put in between) or air after Grey's Anatomy.
But Greg Berlanti is behind it, and Jack & Bobby, Everwood, and Brothers & Sisters are all amazing shows so I'm sure that the series will at least be critically acclaimed.

I hope it succeeds as well. The more soaps the better.
