Wednesdays at 9pm may now be the toughest hour in TV. You have 4 strong series going against each other. Who will blink first? Will there be anything left for Gossip Girl?
Back to You/'Til Death, Criminal Minds, and Dirty Sexy Money (if it's no good I'll give CSI NY a try). Although it will probably be amply sampled in the beginning, I wouldn't classify The Bionic Woman as a "strong series", seeing how it hasn't even aired yet.
Here's my thinking on this night. NBC will get the sci-fi folks but it won't be any Heroes level audiences with Bionic Woman and therefore Life will immediatley flop. CBS will stay steady with the older procedural audience. Kids Nation may find a reality audience at 8. ABC will get Lost fans in for Pushing Daisies and the Betty/Greys/Housewives crowd from 9 to 11 as both Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money will score. Fox has Back to You and Til Death courting comedy in what is otherwise an open 8pm slot. DOND may hurt them slightly. Bones could get crushed at 9, but I'm thinking the stable 7 million will show up and Fox will decide its make or break time on Fridays in January. While Top Model is certainly a good lead in, Gossip Girls will struggle against Private Practice and eventually the Death Star. It won't do any better than One Tree Hill. I'd like to see Gossip Girls get a Tuesday tryout after B&tG and try Reaper on Wed. or Sunday.
