Alec Baldwin really stole the show. The concept is hot - behind the scenes of a sketch-comedy show. You'd think that Tina Fey, who has lived this script, would offer a stronger character/script/performance. She was really disappointing.
To me, it felt like an infomerical for NBC. But maybe that's because I worked at the network for five years. The whole environment looked uncomfortably familiar. Did you watch 20 Good Years also? If so, what did you think?
20 Good Years, not great, but not NEARLY as bad as I've been reading in some reviews. Seems like there's some promise there. This show is being torched by some reviewers and it doesn't make any sense to me. Based on one or two episodes?
Very few hit comedies were great right off the bat, and many of them in recent memory was creatively and/or ratings-challenged for their entire first season and sometime second.
I think the best reviewers write in terms of promising/not so promising instead of "Worst New Show/Best New Show."
