Pretty good nominations over all. The comedy series nods are exactly what I would have picked. The only quibble would be Studio 60 for best new series but I can't think off hand what I would put in its place.

I was a little surprised to see so much 30 ROCK love (and two episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES nominated, one from S2 and one from S3, yet the show itself wasn't). Also, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE over THE COLBERT REPORT!?

But, generally, they seem decent. I'm especially curious what the Veroncia Mars promo nomination was... I know it's from UPN, so it had to have been something from season two (versus any of the generally bad promos on The CW).

Are we sure this is correct?

Doesn't The Office have too much of a shaky camera?

And isn't 30 Rock too inside?

And an obviously biased shut-out of the comedy gold of Two and a Half Men and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Could it be that this so-called "Writers Guild" was turned down when they tried to solicit a bribe from the Federation of Laugh Track Machine
Operators?

Ho hum. The same overrated crap every year just like the Emmys. There are some real bad choices on that list. Industry awards have become a complete joke.

Some of my opinions:

* I don't think Lost and Sopranos should've received nods (Lost in particular!). Both shows were not up to snuff last season and the writing has really taken a dive.

* on the other hand, I'm glad Desperate Housewives got some nods. The show has come back nicely from last year's weak season.

* I think South park should've received at least one nod for animation writing. They've had an amazingly funny season, especially after 10 years of material. Still fresh and edgy.

* SNL gets a nomination? Is SNL still on the air?

* I don't know anyone who thinks Bill Maher has talent.

* America's Heroes was really good! I'm glad it got noticed.

Are you proud of not knowing that or just trying to be "clever"?

Can you name a funnier "comedy/variety" show on the air?

(Or do you need someone to tell you what else is on the air? Wink)

Uhh..
How could you write that Colbert, who is excellent, is funnier than a show that you have not seen, since you were unaware that it was even on the air?

Any other shows that you haven't seen that you think Colbert is funnier than?

Not so "easy."
