I thought it would be nice to include TV Guide's Matt Roush's in the mix....
Question: I really value your opinion and think that you are one of the best TV critics out there. What are your current five favorite shows on television? I'm not asking what you think are the best or most original shows on television, but the five that you are currently enjoying the most.— Dan Matt Roush: Thanks for the positive feedback. I hate reducing TV to arbitrary lists like this. Still, since you asked: purely in terms of consistent enjoyment, and limiting the list to what's currently on air now (or at least through this week, and without regard to what's in a repeat cycle), my top five of the moment would have to include Friday Night Lights, The Shield, The Sopranos, Grey's Anatomy and the recent Lost, with Ugly Betty and 30 Rock right behind for much-needed comic relief. If I could stretch it out to 10 titles, I'd also spread the wealth to a few cable shows not currently in rotation: Battlestar Galactica, The Closer and Rescue Me. And right behind is the original CSI, the best of the network procedurals this season.
