What worked, What didn't, and What was just plain stupid?

E*Trade's barfing baby was stupid.
E*Trade's second spot with the same baby was fantastic. The reference to 'creapy' must have been done as a reference to the baby bob stuff with Quiznos?
Toyota did a good job of promoting their truck.
I loved the Gatorade ad with the dog drinking, but I bet it got by most people without them knowing what the commercial was for.
The Victoria's Secret ad was good, but I doubt it will lead to increased Valentine's Day sales.
The FX ad for all their original series was good, though I don't actually like the shows.
None of the budweiser ads were particularly interesting. I like the horse in training ad the best, but I bet Will Farrell's 'suck it' ad will be 'the rage'.
The 'don't do illegal drugs, do your parents prescription drugs' ad was an interesting twist. If nothing else, it will keep the rich kids off the kind of drugs that will lead to criminal records. Hmmm...some of you probably think I missed the intended message.

The Worst Commercial I saw was for the new Adam Sandler Movie. The Movie looks really bad and the commercial was really UNFUNNY.

It looks like a 'Zoolander' Wannabe.

I love the FX promos that have been airing for quite some time.

Another place for Superbowl Ads is on AOL.com

Bud Light - Breathing Fire was better than flying which was better than wine & cheese

Diet Pepsi's Timberlake on a string was better than Night at the Roxbury, which seemed to go on too long

Bridgestone's Screaming Squirrel was one of the better ones, thoguh uninspired

GoDaddy.com seems to be the same every year

FedEx's Giant Pideon's was one of the best, though not as good as their Cavemen a couple years ago.

Note to Paramount: Every ad for Iron Man MUST have Ozzy's song in the backgroud.

Audi's Godfather - derivative, though I did like the sound of the car

SalesGenie.com Salesman and Panda got the eye's attention, but were not all that great

Under Armour - huh?

Gatorade - the dog worked better than Jeter, but were outshone by Shaq as a Jockey

Dell - outshone by the Cashew Gal

Budweiser - Rocky the Horse was better than most of the movies in the series.

Toyota - Badger Cell phone was one of the better ones, but I have no idea about the car

CareerBuilder.com - Some pretty good mushrooms going around in that ad agency, apparently. Needed a better punchline in both Heart and Spider

GMC - THAT was for a Hybrid SUV? No linkage

T-Mobile - Wins award for Most Counter-Productive. If you put Charles Barkley in your fave five, you get him at all times of day and night. Why would I want that?

Doritos Mouse Trap - One of the Best, but not as good as last year's. I half expected

Garmin GPS - Napoleon needs it? What

Life Water - Thriller - Should I know that girl?

Planters - Cashew Gal - One of the best. I forsee her being used in a series.

Ice Breakers - Second-most counter-Productive. If you use it with Carmen Electra, you'll get pummeled by security?

Coca-Cola - Carville and First have been done before, but the balloons were OK.

E-Trade Baby - Sucked and threw up! Let me never see them again

Taco bell Fiesta - OK, except it's Taco Bell. When was the last time it had a Marichi Band included?

Amp Drink - Interesting. I predict some frat party will try to repeat it, though

Victoria's Secret - that ad will make sure plenty of catalogues will go out - Sales are another matter.

I forgot about the music video. Talk about finding a "safe" song. Roll Eyes

And I guess that was Naomi Campbell dancing to Thriller with Lizards, but it sure didn't get the product name in there.

And I guess I tried to block out the talking Stain. I hated that one. What next? A screaming open fly?

One other thing. I found the Fox "Robo-Jock" getting ambushed by the Terminator Robot to be more amusing than just about all of the commercials.

What does that say about them?

I enjoyed the talking stain because it was relatable (many times in the office environment we run across this).

Personal favs were the Bud Lite Add (Clydesdales) , the Planters ad and T-mobile with Charles Barkley.

Loved the Clydesdales (always enjoy seeing them at the world's best county fair, the Clay County Fair), the Baby with the clown that was creepy, and Coke with Carville and Frist.

Agree with TV that Sandler's latest movie looks like a tanker.

Close Super Bowl puts even more eyes on late-airing ads

By Theresa Howard, USA TODAY
NEW YORK — Late-game Super Bowl advertisers scored extra ratings points for their bucks as viewership for the cliffhanger between the New England Patriots and New York Giants surged north of 100 million.

The single most-seen ad in the game, media ratings service The Nielsen Co. reported Thursday, aired in the fourth quarter: At 9:44 p.m. ET, 103.7 million viewers watched sultry Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima flirt in lingerie.

The most-watched Super Bowl game ever, which averaged 97.4 million viewers, topped out at 112.2 million viewers at 10:02 p.m., 10 minutes before the end. The 10 most-watched ads all tallied more viewers than the game average.

"Those are staggering numbers," says Tom Ziangas, a vice president at Nielsen Sports. "The game did build viewers. It was a game that was extremely competitive, and that last quarter built to a crescendo."

No. 2 behind Victoria's Secret was a fourth-quarter ad for PepsiCo's (PEP) Amp energy drink. In it, a chubby, hairy, bare-chested tow-truck driver gets so much energy from Amp that he can clamp cables to his nipples and jump-start a car.

Victoria's Secret was singing about its decision to create an ad for late in the game. The fourth-quarter placement was driven by the ad's theme. With Brenda Lee's I'm in the Mood for Love playing, the ad says the game will soon end and the real fun will begin (and, by the way, Valentine's Day is almost here).

"It was a bargain relative to all other media and advertising," says Ed Razek, chief creative officer for Limited Brands, (LTD) which owns Victoria's Secret. "We're very pleased with the results. We were the only commercial in the Super Bowl that recognized the Super Bowl, recognized our timing and recognized our brand."

The viewer totals made the average ad cost of $2.7 million for 30 seconds in the game seem reasonable.

"If people wanted to reach that many viewers across top network shows, they would need to buy at least a dozen spots," Ziangas says. "People like Victoria's Secret and Pepsi got their money's worth."

Pepsi agrees. "Our goal was to raise exposure and awareness for Amp, and reaching that huge audience is icing on the cake," spokeswoman Nicole Bradley says.

Super Bowl ad winners among other measures tracked by units of Nielsen:

•Most replayed on DVRs. Walt Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was the most-replayed ad via DVR, with 4.1 million viewers.

PepsiCo had two of the top five ads most replayed on DVRs: Naomi Campbell and dancing lizards for SoBe Life Water at No. 3 and, at No. 4, a Doritos ad with a mousetrap and a giant rat that was a leftover from Doritos' amateur ad contest for last year's Super Bowl.

•Getting most online buzz. Pepsi got the most buzz for its Justin Timberlake Pepsi Stuff promotion. E-Trade's two baby ads were second and fourth in Nielsen's online buzz barometer.
