Personally, I'm looking forward to the new Lifetime show that airs tomorrow night at 9 called "How To Look Good Naked.” I saw ads for it everywhere - the tv commercials, billboards, fliers .. they're really promoting the heck out of it. And I'll admit, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was a guilty pleasure of mine, so I don't mind Carson Kressley too much.
And I'm also looking forward to American Gladiators (yes!) .. I'd love to see the new gladiators with their awesome names (I can only remember the name Nitro).
Having seen the Eli Stone pilot, I'm looking forward to that show. It reminds me of Life in a lot of ways, in that it's kind of a procedural with a lighthearted, feel-good character side - doesn't have the rampant over-the-topness that people associate with the ABC brand. Like Life, it deals in several different tones and is thus hard to capture in a promo, and like Life, the early promos have been pretty bad. I don't know if it'll have the mainstream appeal.
Having seen the Lipstick Jungle pilot, I'm not looking forward to that show. That's all I will say on that matter.
Having seen part of the New Amsterdam pilot, I'm on the fence. May give it a couple eps to make sure it's a stinker.
Haven't seen pilots for Cashmere, Canterbury's, Jezebel, Unhitched, Swingtown. I plan on trying each one at least once. Based on concept alone, I'm not particularly enthusiastic about any of them. I may sample Gladiators, but it doesn't seem like my kind of show. I will be sampling Moment of Truth.
I'm looking forward to the Sarah Conner Chronicles (big fan of the Terminator series), American Gladiators (wasn't Blaze an original one?), and I'm going to check out How To Look Good Naked tonight.
Pretty stoked about the new year .. and I think How To Look Good Naked will be a good different show, especially compared to the weight loss reality competition shows. Reading great reviews about it online makes it ever more of an anticipation for me.
I plan on watching How to Look Good Naked, Make Me A Supermodel, Farmer Wants a Wife (if it ever airs), and American Gladiators.
A few of the FOX pilots have leaked and they were available for vieweing. I don't know if they changed or if they are available now. Sarah Connor, Jezebel James, New Amsterdam, and Canterbury's Law all weren't that good. I don't plan on watching any of them because none have a good chance of surviving past May due to how FOX has scheduled them one after another.
If I had to rank them in terms of quality:
1. New Amsterdam 2. Jezebel James 3. Sarah Connor Chronicles 4. Canterbury's Law
Moment of Truth sounds completely brainless. I'm also think it boarders on classless. Has TV evolved to the point that people are willing to answer personal questions under extreme circumstances for money?
Was excited about Cashmere Mafia until I saw the first 13 minutes. It'll tank harder than Cavemen. It's terrible. Eli Stone looks horrible and a Boston Legal rip off. I'm going to pass on that one. Lipstick Jungle has no appeal to me.
Even though most of the mid-season shows don't appeal to me, the pilot season for Fall 2008 looks good if it ever gets off the ground.

Why were you previously excited about Mafia but not Lipstick? Aren't they like the exact same show?
Forgot about The Captain and T:SCC, both of which I will also try. I watched the Sarah Connor pilot months ago and don't honestly remember a whole lot about it.
The Sarah Conner Chronicles doesn't seem to be off on a good start, but I'll give it a chance. Saw How To Look Good Naked and was pretty surprised. I can’t believe Carson Kressley got that woman to feel so comfortable and secure in her own skin that she could show it off. And she looked amazing.
If I were to rank the pilots (1 being the best, and 10 being the worst), that I've seen, this is what they'd be:
1. Eli Stone (ABC) 2. The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX) 3. Swingtown (CBS) 4. Lipstick Jungle (NBC) 5. New Amsterdam (FOX) 6. Canterbury's Law (FOX) 7. Cashmere Mafia (ABC)
Eli Stone was really well written and had a very uplifting appeal to it. But I think ABC's been advertising the show in a wrong way and its a bit quirky, so I'm not sure if it will appeal to all audiences. TSCC was pretty entertaining and with a series that has a built in fan base spanning over 20 yrs and with the lack of new shows on, I definitely think it could be a hit for FOX.
Swingtown was also a good pilot but its on the wrong network. A series like this would have been much better if it aired on ABC; probably after Desperate Housewives. I really see it having a hard time doing well on CBS.
And as for other FOX dramas, New Amsterdam wasnt bad, but I found it rather forgettable and I dont think it'll last and Canterbury's Law was like a crappy version of The Practice.
There's also Lipstick Jungle and Cashmere Mafia; neither are my type of shows but Lipstick Jungle is much better than Cashmere Mafia. "Mafia" tries to hard and seems completely shallow all around (and from its ratings, viewers werent impressed either). "Jungle" is a bit better and I liked the three main cast members more; I also believed that they were actually friends, in which I didnt get from Cashmere Mafia.
But whether these shows are good or bad wont really matter; the nets will probably keep them on until they finish their entire runs because of the lack of scripted programming... unless one of them tanks as bad as Viva Laughlin...
Fox doesn't often do stuff halfway...it's either very good or total garbage mosta the time. To me, "Moment Of Truth" seemsta be their trashbag this time around.
Doesn't look as if a lotta thought, talent, or work went into "Cashmere Mafia". This'n'll last only until the writers' strike ends, or they air all eps now in the can, unless subsequent eps are a LOT bettr than the premiere.
"Lipstick Jungle" has some potential & it should stick around at least for the resta the season.
farmer might want a wife, but prolly, too many viewers won't want the show.
If I was going to take off my pants on national TV, I’d feel much more comfortable doing it for Carson than for Tyra. Carson seems genuinely invested in helping people with their body issues… but Tyra just wants the camera on her at all the times because she needs the attention.
What's with Miss/Guided? I watched a few clips a couple months ago and thought it might be a cute/funny comedy, but I don't think it's scheduled at all... What's with that?
