Yes, it goes off the air every year until March or so. However, with Prison Break's declining numbers, if SCC hits and does well, they might just pull a Nashville and take it off permanently.

Hasn't it been off the air for an extended period of time every season so far?

I doubt that. Its been consistant with its numbers this season. averaging about a 7.4 for the season. not much above or below.

Psst, the entire episode has been online for a while.
This show is not the type of thing that interests me. But it is one of the very few of this season's new crop that actually seemed to be made by professional, competent show producers. In other words, people who know what they are doing.
So many of the fall premieres are just a dull mess, as if they were made by ungifted media students.
ETA: We'll have to see if they can keep up the standard past the premiere.
Possible spoiler: . . . A crucial, exciting scene was completely rewritten after a real life school shooting, so I wonder if that rips up a lot of the pilot now.

I think that Sarah on Monday is a good idea. NBC has proven that sci-fi works on Mondays. Sure, some viewers will click over to Heroes, but it's not as if 24 isn't a successful established series. I mean Drive and it's poor ratings didn't hurt 24.
I'm pretty sure that Sarah will be male skewing while Dancing, the CBS & CW comedies are all female skewing, so that only leaves Chuck, but I'm pretty sure that Sarah will beat it in the ratings. If it's a big hit, then maybe Thursdays at 9/8c for season 2?
