I'll take it and would have taken it last year as well. It is well past time to actually do this and give FOX a presence on Thursday with a show that will command numbers and could steal viewers from other strong Thursday shows.

I totally agree - ABC aired Grey's Anatomy after the Super Bowl and eventually moved it from Sundays to Thursdays with much success. House will move to another night and with the audience of my favorite shows, Survivor and Smallville, slowly dwindling, NBC's comedies are good quality but ratings-deficient, and I'm sure Mark Burnett isn't too happy competing with himself with both Survivor and 5th Grader in the same timeslot, Thursdays at 8 for House is a perfect fit. Another hint could be that 5th Grader is also airing on Fridays at 8, probably a test run for how it fares in that timeslot when House takes its Thursday slot. quote: Originally posted by TravisYanan: Perhaps this is Kevin Reilly preparing us for House's eventual move to Thursdays at 8pm the week after its post-Super Bowl airing? Once the Wednesday 9 pm hour arrives, FOX will program seven consecutive primetime hours of reality Wednesday to Saturday, and almost half their 15 primetime hours are now devoted to reality, the highest percentage amongst the big six networks.
If reality sags in the fall as viewers flock towards scripted, FOX could suffer weak weekly numbers. Based on their new fall schedule, here is what I predict in terms of FOX ranking on a night-to-night basis in A18-49:
Monday - fourth Tuesday - second Wednesday - fifth (FOX is really squandering the good number that Back to You will garner, many of whom will change channels when Til Death comes on, and further defection will occur at 9 pm when Kitchen Nightmares arrives) Thursday - fourth (I think NBC will widen its lead over FOX as the season progresses) Friday - once American Band arrives, FOX will fall to 5th place, only ranking ahead of MyNetworkTV Saturday - FOX will hold second (behind ABC College Football), but their reality line-up is showing its age and could lose another 10-20% in A18-49s this season as has been the pattern the last few seasons Sunday - fourth place until football finishes on NBC.
Dumont, I think you're a little too hard on Fox. Monday could fall to 4th, but it will still be a decent fourth. Tuesday they could still rank number one (who is going to beat them? NBC?). Wednesday will rank at least 3rd in my opinion (NBC will be in the cellar and I could see them doing better than CBS demowise). Thursday they should beat NBC's weak comedy block and with ER sagging probably take 3rd on the night. Friday they should probably be in contention for at least 4th. The reality programs could still draw in the younger folks. Saturday they will win most of the time (ABC's college football is really hit or miss in the ratings). Sunday they will be ahead of CBS which skews very old on the night and take 3rd, unless CBS has a very strong NFL lead in (that's still iffy cuz Cold Case, 60 Minutes, Shark, and probably Viva will skew old).

Agree on Monday. I think FOX will be 1st on Tuesday with Bones and House, beating out ABC. No way Wednesday will be 5th...I see Back to You and 'Til Death both doing well and FOX finishing 3rd for the night (behind ABC and CBS). It will be a battle with NBC for 3rd in the fall, but I think FOX will edge out NBC. I see FOX barely beating The CW for 4th on Friday.

It's probably also Kevin Reilly looking at New Amsterdam and realizing it's terrible. I wonder when Nina Tassler will pull the plug on the other immortal investigator drama, Moonlight (though the only drama CBS has for midseason this year is Swingtown... and why waste that sure-to-buzz show on Fridays at 9pm? Close To Home fans, you should be outraged). Would TAR work on Fridays at 9pm?
I couldn't agree more about Bones's and Houses's ulimate destination, Travis. I think you nailed this one. As for TAR Friday's at 9:00? Frankly, I don't know, and I don't care.

And who would know that better than Kevin Reilly?

I see TAR as a midseason replacement for either the Wed. or Thur. 8pm hour or perhaps it can go back to Tuesdays at 9pm when Cane fails and the Unit can go to 10. quote: Originally posted by HeightsEye: quote: Originally posted by TravisYanan:

I agree, but it could also go to Sunday at 8 if VL fails. Also I think Swingtown will either go to Tuesday at 10 or Sunday at 10 with CC and Shark moving up an hour.
