Of course we do not know what will do well and what will not, but the one thing I don't like about the way FOX schedules the Jan-May portion is that IF a show like T:SCC or Moment of Truth were to do well, they may not have a slot for them after January

As I said in the other thread, this schedule is very strong.

First off, Fridays which were a major weakness for FOX is now competitive. If the Thursdays numbers carry over to Friday, FOX may be the leader on Fridays in both viewers and demos.

Wednesdays are as best as they can get them. I do think they should switch The Inn and Til Death as The Inn would benefit more from from the Bones lead in.

House and Fringe ought to do very well on Tuesdays.

The weakest night to me is Monday with SCC, only a moderate performer, and the declining PB. Granted, they are just waiting for 24 and Dollhouse to come in, but this could be a major problem for the fall.

Isn't PRISON BREAK having a spring season?
Not sure I like it being set up to be pummelled by HEROES.

And where is the new Mike Judge animated show THE GOODE'S?

Overall, a pretty solid looking schedule from Fox, something that ABC and NBC cannot say. Based on this schedule, it looks as though Fox is slowly moving to a largely rerun free season. It appears that several series (“Terminator”, “Prison Break”, “5TH Grader”, and “Lyrics!”) will only air during the fall/winter months before being replaced in late winter/spring.

If Fox sticks with this schedule (and that’s a big “if”), it looks like the days of summer may be over for “Hell’s Kitchen”, which will again make a regular season appearance, this time without an “American Idol” lead-in. Speaking of “Idol”, I do hope Fox cuts back on the hour long results show used this season. Often times expanding a series (i.e. the ninety minute “Dancing With the Stars” and “Biggest Loser”) doesn’t mean more action, simply more filler and commercials.

I am glad that Fox doesn’t anticipate writing off Friday nights with cheap reality like ABC is doing, by scheduling “Bones” and the comedies on the night in January. The network actually followed thru with the long postponed move to Fridays this season for “Bones” – albeit in reruns – and the results were promising. Perhaps Fox could challenge CBS for the night with this line-up.

Wednesday will likely be greatly improved thanks to the likely move of “House” in midseason coupled with the “Idol” results show and an unnamed comedy. Together, “Bones” and “House” have made Fox a player on Mondays without either “Prison Break” or “24”. There is no reason why “House” shouldn’t continue to perform well, this time on Wednesday.

Lastly, with its ratings power diminishing on Sundays, Fox may want to consider moving some/all of their animated series in order to reconfigure the night to recapture some of those lost viewers. Even a scaled down Sunday animation block of only “Simpsons” and “Family Guy” would allow one hour to program with new (non-comedy) fare.

Overall, I would propose that Fox and CBS have shown the most promise with their schedules for next seasons, largely based on the solid foundations both networks have to work with. Given their disastrous year, the CW did about as good as they could with their line-up (even if they continue to insist on same week reruns of “Top Model”), while ABC and NBC seemed to disappoint by either playing it safe (still more ninety minute “Dancing” on ABC and retro remakes like “Knight Rider” on NBC) or a general lack of enthusiasm in any of their new series or scheduling changes. Based on these schedules, CBS and Fox should continue to vie for the lead (CBS leading in the fall/winter with Fox taking over once a fading “Idol” returns) with ABC and NBC fighting for third, although the alphabet net should “Dance” ahead of NBC. Hopefully CW can improve on their performance this season or maybe even add a few viewers to their roster.

It is kind of silly that in order to draw up a spring schedule right now, you have to pretty much pick and choose some shows to fail. NBC did the same thing.

I had thought that they would keep PB or SCC at 8pm Monday if there was a good reason to, and if so, maybe they will end up gutting the Thursday schedule. Thurs 8pm is not easy but I could see something like Dollhouse fitting there, as its most similar competition would be whatever is on CW (probably either Reaper or Supernatural). It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to move Hell's Kitchen back to summer.

In other news, will this be the year, finally, that Bones airs an original on Friday?

Actually I don't think ABC "threw away" Fridays. Supernanny and Wife Swap has a dedicated fanbase and they will thrive on Fridays. They will do the same numbers as WMC but are much cheaper to produce. Very smart move.

This seems to me a very strong schedule. Fringe and Dollhouse are the most anticipated new series among all networks, and at least one of them might be able to keep a 4.0-5.0 demo through its run.

This is a very good schedule, I think it's the best one of all 5 networks. I really like Tuesday/Thursday/Friday but Monday/Wednesday are very weak. Fringe is by far getting the best treatment of any show, they obviously have big faith in it.

As for the midseason schedule, well I take it with a pitcher of salt. This is FOX, it'll change.

I agree this looks to be the line with the most upside to it.

I would place CBS 2nd, then ABC and NBC.

We can agree to disagree on that topic. In my opinion, ABC may be behind even NBC with their "cheap" (literally and figuratively) line-up on Friday. If CW had kept "Smackdown!", it and ABC could have been in for a photo finish.

We'll see whose prediction is more spot on come fall.

I agree too and the midseason lineup is good too. The only thing is, the lineup will still be in third this fall.

One thing that caught me was the TSCC at 8 and PB at 9. Looks like prioritization and protection for TSCC. Probably the smart move although it could still easily struggle.

Notice how nobody is talking much about the often overrated "compatibility" issue with HOUSE and FRINGE? Contrast this with the I believe excessive handwringing in CBS threads about CSI and ELEVENTH HOUR. Someday it may sink in that shows like HOUSE and CSI are general audience hits with both genders and all age groups and almost anything good can lead out of them.

BONES not on friday in the fall? Looks like I can collect that ten-spot from that good ole' bookie out there in cyberworld Wink
