Unscheduled: Family Guy-Spinoff, Til Death, Spaced, Queen B, Inseparable, Virtuality

My logic is that House can stand on it's own where the scripted comedies are weak and could use the boost. Plus, Idol on Thursday could severely damage CSI & Grey's and allow FOX to improve it's standing on the night. Lyrics has proved it can do well on Fridays and so has Bones.

I like your schedule Rado. House could put a sizable dent into Dancing with the Stars and I'm thrilled that Dollhouse gets the Idol lead out.

House may have even better demo numbers vs Dancing with the stars! It also will be great lead-in for Prison break Smiler

FOX has been kind of stale with its lineups for quite a while now, so I’m going to shake it up a bit and think outside of the box when it comes to what FOX should do.

New series are in CAPS
[sc] stands for FOX’s already new series commitments

SUN

7:00 Football overrun/The O.T.
8:00 The Simpsons
8:30 STARTING UNDER [sc]
9:00 FRINGE [sc]

Of the current cartoon block, only Simpsons should remain. The others should be reserved for a mid-season return, which could either be on this night or some other. This leaves 90 minutes open for the new Bernie Mac sitcom and the new X Files knockoff.

MON

8:00 Bones
9:00 THE OAKS [sc]

Maybe too early to be sure about it, but Bones already seems to be off to a good start in its first Monday 8 pm airing, getting a better rating than most Prison Break episodes this past season, and doing so opposite Dancing with the Stars, so maybe it should play as this night’s lead-in for keeps now. The Oaks could probably work equally well at 9 pm on Tuesday or Wednesday, but it looks like a compatible pairing here with it and Bones. 24 could take over at 9 again in January should The Oaks not live up to expectations or it, or even The Oaks, could find a new slot on another night, perhaps Wednesday at 9.

TUE

8:00 DOLLHOUSE [7 ep., post-World Series Nov. debut]
9:00 House, M.D.

I kind of like the idea of having a couple of houses on this night – Dollhouse and House, M.D.. Sure, Dollhouse has only 7 episodes ordered, but I’d still want it on in the fall. Since Dollhouse would only begin in November, it would be preceded by a short run of Hell's Kitchen or The Moment of Truth maybe from the beginning or middle of August till the World Series takes over. Following the end of the World Series, Dollhouse would fill in till January when American Idol returns. If Dollhouse scores well, then either it'll continue in January with new episodes but in a new time slot [competing with 24 for Wednesday 9 pm?] or it would take a break and return in March for another couple of months.

WED

8:00 ‘Til Death
8:30 Back to You
9:00 QUEEN B [sc]

Not sure if FOX will bring back the sitcoms, but I’m keeping them in for now just the same. The office drama of Queen B would seem to be a good fit with the office comedy of Back to You, if only in the office sense. But considering how underwhelmingly Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle have performed, Queen B might not stick around long, even if it sounds potentially more interesting than Cashmere or Lipstick. American Idol would return in January, probably at 8 to serve as a solid lead-in for whatever might follow at 9: Queen B, the sitcoms moving from 8 to 9, 24 or Dollhouse.

THU

8:00 Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
8:30 SPACED
9:00 THE INN
9:30 Don’t Forget the Lyrics

5th Grader and Lyrics don’t need to be hour-long shows, so by chopping off a half-hour from each they can make way for a pair of new sitcoms. Don’t know what to really make of Spaced and The Inn with their scant details so far, but for now I’ll give them the benefit of a doubt. Besides, more comedies are needed and I’ll just assume these ones would end up being funny and worthy enough.

FRI

8:00 Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
9:00 INSEPERABLE

Something’s got to go in on Friday night and there’s a real shortage for FOX of what exactly that could be. I’ll opt for Terminator and pair it with Inseperable, with its premise of a forensic psyhiatrist with a split personality as a charismatic criminal sounding like it could have a nice,
hammy, entertaining ring to it that could make for fun, escapist Friday night viewing.

SAT

8:00 Prison Break
9:00 America’s Most Wanted
9:30 Cops

Now this I think is brilliant: an all prison theme night. I’m way past bored of seeing Cops and
AMW monopolize this night for way too long now, so it’s time to break things up here and give the
night a bit of a new spin, while still having it remain familiar enough. In the process, America's Most Wanted is reduced to half-an-hour since it too has no real reason for being an hour in length and Cops loses its rerun half, which is no great loss.

New at mid-season:

The only one so far would be the Star Trekkish spoof, Boldy Going Nowhere.

Why Simpsons? Family Guy out rates Simpsons now. If anything, Family Guy should stay, and Simpsons and King of the Hill should be midseason, considering their age.

True. Actually, so far this season it looks like it's been just about even between them if you average out their numbers. Since I'm working with an 8 pm comedy block, not a 9 pm one, I figured I'd stick with Simpsons, which would seem to be more compatible with the new Bernie Mac sitcom. Family Guy appears to work best as a 9 pm entry, having spent 5 out of its 6 seasons at 9 or 9:30. Besides, if Fringe fails, then it's back to Family Guy and American Dad in that hour in January or even earlier. Either way, Simpsons or Family Guy, neither one really has that much of a significant edge over the other in ratings, usually being only .1 or .2 higher than the other in household numbers, so it just came down to a compatibility issue with Starting Under.

SUNDAY-FALL,WINTER,SPRING

7:00- COMEDY ENCORES
8:00- KING OF THE HILL
8:30- THE SIMPSONS
9:00- FAMILY GUY
9:30- SIT DOWN, SHUT UP -new

-Basically the same tried and true lineup next season minus American Dad with the new animated comedy from the makers of Arrested Development. Winkler,Bateman,Arnett, Oteri...Comedy gold. Note.. I could see Fox bringing back American Dad early in the season and using this as a midseason replacement.

MONDAY-FALL
8:00 Prison Break(sept-nov)
9:00 Fringe- new

MONDAY-WINTER/SPRING
8:00- Terminator SCC(jan-apr)
8:00- Prison Break (Apr&May)
9:00- 24

-Prison Break returns to it's usual slot starting in the monday after Labor day and ending it's 13 week run in December. Fox will have it's very highly anticipated drama Fringe starting in Sept and ending it's 13 episode run in December. After the new year the newly renewed Terminator-TSCC will return for it's 13 episode run just after the new year. Prison Break will resume the back half of their 22 episode arc afterwards sometime in April. 24 will run from Jan till the end of May with new episodes.

TUESDAY-fall

8:00-KITCHEN NIGHTMARES
9:00- HOUSE

TUESDAY-winter,spring
8:00- AMERICAN IDOL
9:00- HOUSE

Nothing unsual here. Ramsay returns in the fall to pick up a solid ratings performer in KN and House occupies it's strong spot on Tue's at 9. AI returns in Jan. House returns to finish it's 22 episode run after the 2 hour AI's are completed in March.

WEDNESDAY-FALL
8:00- BACK TO YOU
8:30- THE INN- new
9:00- DOLLHOUSE-new

WEDNESDAY- WINTER/SPRING
8:00- BACK TO YOU
8:30- THE INN
9:00- AMERICAN IDOL

-Back to You returns for another shot at higher ratings. Fox wants this show to work. New comedy The Inn with Jerry O'Connell will debut afterwards. Highly talked about Dollhouse will start in the fall and if successfull find a new home in the winter. AI returns.

THURSDAY'S-FALL
8:00- ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?
9:00- DON'T FORGET THE LYRICS

THURSDAY'S- WINTER/SPRING
8:00- ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?
9:00- MOMENT OF TRUTH

-Gameshow night on Fox. They know they can't compete against the CSI's, Grey's Annatomy of the world so they will continue with what has worked. 5th grader throughout the year, lyrics in the fall, Moment of Truth returning after the new year

FRIDAY- FALL

8:00- BONES
9:00- THE OAKS-new

FRIDAY-WINTER/SPRING
8:00- BONES
9:00- VIRTUALITY- new

Not a lot of shows can have success on Friday's but Bones does and it will stay there. New family drama The Oaks will work well with Bones and of course have a great lead in, in the fall. New sci fi drama Virtuality could debut in the winter or The Oaks or New Amsterdam could end up with a 13 episode run at this time. Virtuality is scheduled to have a 2 hour backdoor pilot. Ratings could determine if this ends up in the fall. Too much sci fi this season? perhaps.

I don't really see FOX putting a new scripted drama on Fridays unless one of their series orders ends up being underwelming and they want to burn it off as fast as possible.

FOX has three unscripted/game show ideas that are moving forward: When Women Rule the World, Smile! Your Arrested, and Hole In The Wall. I could see two of those three being your Friday schedule in the fall.

If Courtroom K lives up to its potential in the pilot, it would be the perfect match for House. I could see a House/Courtroom K pairing, probably in the fall if it is ready in time.

* = Midseason

Sunday
7pm King Of The Hill
7.30pm Simpsons (R)
8pm Simpsons
8.30pm THE PITTS - NEW SERIES* / SIT DOWN, SHUT UP - NEW SERIES*
9pm American Dad/ CLEVELAND - NEW SERIES*
9.30pm Family Guy

"King Of The Hill" is the weakest link in FOX's Sunday Night line-up, so I would get it out of the way, while "Simpsons" and "Family Guy" are the strongest shows of the night, which is why I would air everything else in between those shows.

Monday
8pm House
9pm COURTROOM K - NEW SERIES*

"House" would probably do better on other nights, but I feel like FOX's other shows or new shows in development wouldn't really work that well against their competition. COURTROOM K is supposed to be similar to "House", so why not use "House" to establish it?

Tuesday
8pm DOLLHOUSE - NEW SERIES / American Idol*
9pm THE OAKS - NEW SERIES/ Dollhouse*

I feel like Tuesday Night or Wednesday Night is the best possible day for a Joss show to catch an audience, so that's why I would air it on either one of those two nights.

Wednesday
8pm FRINGE - NEW SERIES / American Idol*
9pm Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Not a lot of really successful shows air on Wednesday Nights, so "Fringe" would have the best chances on Wednesdays. Terminator shouldn't go up against "Heroes", because they might share the same viewers, so let's move it to Wednesdays.

Thursday
8pm Bones
9pm Don't Forget The Lyrics / 5th Grader

"Bones" has proved itself to have a loyal fanbase which will follow them just about anywhere, still no reason to schedule them on Friday Nights, which leaves Thursday Nights. Dftl and 5th Grader did pretty well last season, so they should stay put on Thursday Nights.

Friday
8pm Prison Break
9pm Hell's Kitchen

"Prison Break" is a sinking ship that doesn't need much more attention. Ratings have been down last year, the show can't go on forever with that concept which makes the fourth season probably the final one. I say, let it die on Friday Nights.

Midseason or unscheduled: Back To You, Queen B, Virtuality

Cancelled: 'till death, New Amsterdam, The Return Of Jezebel James, Canterbury's Law, Unhitched, K-Ville

MONDAY
8 - Terminator: SCC
9 - Prison Break

Give both of these 13 and a back nine to the "better" one (if they're about equal, probably the younger SCC) and then put that show at 8 leading into 24 in the winter. This gives you a built-in way to get SCC off the schedule should it struggle in season 2. PB is less likely to "die" against Heroes than SCC is.

TUESDAY
8 - Fringe
9 - House

It's possible that they put House at 8 as a lead-in, as well.

WEDNESDAY
8 - Til Death
8:30 - Back to You
9 - Kitchen Nightmares

I don't really think those comedies should be renewed, but it seems like they're going to be. If only one makes it, join it with a newbie. Nightmares is a solid counterprogramming option in this hour.

THURSDAY
8 - Are You Smarter?
9 - Moment of Truth

Somewhat contingent on MoT's summer performance, but MoT looks like it could do better than what Lyrics was doing in that slot in the fall.

FRIDAY
8 - Don't Forget the Lyrics!
9 - Bones

I'd prefer to put Bones on Wednesday, but if they renew the comedies I really don't think they're going to relegate them to Friday. These shows both can make the transition to Friday, but are not demographically strong enough to make it egregious to leave them out of the midweek.

SUNDAY
7 - NFL or animation (R)
7:30 - The OT or animation (R)
8 - Simpsons
8:30 - King of the Hill (or maybe something new, keeping flexibility with KotH's 13 eps)
9 - Family Guy
9:30 - American Dad

I would roll a lot of the newer stuff out in winter, specifically on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
