FOX is trying to turn House into a mega-hit. For whatever reason I don't think they see Bones growing in the same way. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: Move AI to Wed/thurs, AND... The Bones/House combo is working well together on Tuesday.

Yea, someone in FOX doesn't care much for the show, but keeps it because it does well. Why else would it be targeted to "Anchor" Fridays for the past 2 season???

I actually think Bones would do alright in what is now a very very easy Friday 8pm timeslot. Its not like 20/20 and Ghost Whisperer are tough competition. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: quote: FOX is trying to turn House into a mega-hit. True, but (A) there seem to be loayal viewers for GW and fridays is a death slot. I'm not sure Bones is the type of show to have the strength to handle Friday Nights.

For some reason, expectations linger about this show, and I don't know why.
Make no mistake, BONES, imo, is a decent show that has improved. Their game is pretty tight, actually. But despite no shortage of critical support, a fairly high level of buzz, numerous time periods, it has never maintained a very high level. My guess is that this is one show that has been sampled by many multiples of its average ratings, with a 'nice show, I'll keep it mind' the most typical response.
I think the entertainment value of the exploits of this Bones character was overrated. She's quirky, but more like someone in your neighborhood is quirky than an ultra-quirky TV hit character. It's a respectable crime show in an era loaded with them on a net that doesn't specialize in them.

Well expectations would have to be low so if it hit 6 million it would have to be considered a success. That's not much lower than what its getting right now, but with Fox's woes, I think it will probably not end up on Friday. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: quote: I actually think Bones would do alright in what is now a very very easy Friday 8pm timeslot. If Bones moves to Friday mid-season, FOX's reasoning has to be an attempt to recharge the Friday night lineup. The only problem would be that a lot of people believe in the Friday night curse on FOX. How much would that belief hurt Bones' viewership ratings?

I think Bones would struggle to the tune of 6-6.5 mil on Friday. Which would be good compared to other FOX attempts on Friday, but quite a hit for the show from its current numbers.

Us Bones fans can only hope wiser minds agree to NOT move it to Fridays. They were smart enough to get it out of the now very tough Wednesday @ 9pm slot .

I agree with Bruce that, while I like Bones, I don't think it quite has the ingredients to break out with a post-Super Bowl slot. And I don't think House is going to find a whole lot more viewers long-term than it has in years after Idol. An animated show may be a post-Super Bowl option, but I think those are fairly established as well. Just goes to show what a perfect situation ABC was in two years ago with Grey's. Second year show that's a pretty big hit already, looking strong creatively, and it has a home run post-SB episode that helps it completely break out. Not many nets will have all that stuff line up in a Super Bowl year. Bones would probably drop below 6 mil on Friday.

Actually, in its first season, Bones aired after Idol for about a month or so and then Fox moved it to 8pm because it was doing very poorly in terms of retention. Ironically, it did as well at 8pm as it did after Idol. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: As a Bones fan, its not a HIT. thats reservved for shows like Grey's, CSI, DWtS, and AI.
But Bones is a success. It pulls strong numbers despite never having a lead in to help it. It may be one of the only/few shows to never have AI lead in to it, ever.
