Not shocked at all. It was gone after its first week numbers. It doesn't bode well for recently moved Canterbury's Law which I'm sure is next in the pecking order. I wonder what is going to replace Jezebel James?

I thought Ambrose was fine in this, but Parker Posey (who I have been OK with elsewhere) was terrible and the rapid-fire dialogue just didn't seem to work in this format. Had no interest in watching beyond opening night.

Dumont or other trivia buffs, any idea how many members of the Three and Through club reached a series high in 18-49 in their last episode? Or maybe just the cancelled-during-first-season club, for that matter. Jezebel did it, with its 1.1 after posting 1.0 in each of the first two. It's the kind of anomaly only I would care about. What a delightful pifeedback parlour-game! I am intrigued by such anomalies too!

Without consulting my ratings archives (which are mostly covered with a fine layer of dust), I shall guess the following may have gone 'three and through' and ended on a series high:
  • The Book of Daniel (NBC) -> this series was really pulled more due to advertiser skittishness than anything else...so glad that the producers released it to DVD, as it was a most excellent series.
  • Harsh Realm (FOX) -> this series seemed to being doing well enough, and FOX pulled it ignominously...once again, Amazon saved the day with a DVD release.
  • On the Air (ABC) -> if I were Mr. David Lynch, I never would have even answered the phone when ABC came calling for the Mulholland Drive project, and all because of lingering bitterness over their treatment of this thoroughly delightful, original comedy based on the early days of TV...Mr. Miguel Ferrer's best series, and he's such a distinguished actor. I still possess a well worn, borrowed-by-everybody VHS copy of the ABC Fourth of July broadcast of the series finale...everyone, sing along with Mr. Peanuts:
    quote:

“Wherever you go, it’s sure nice to know, you have a little friend.

He’s salty and sweet, his clothes are so neat, he’s loyal to the end.

But his name, you say, we stop and we say,
Hey Max, (dog whines) It’s Mr. Peanuts.

Mr Peanuts the guy, you don’t chew when you cry.
He can take the frown and turn it upside down.

    “Doesn’t have an upper lip.”

You just say “Hey Max…It’s Mr. Peanuts”.

Where is the DVD release for this buried treasure, I ask? There was a VHS release that sold out in about 20 seconds, and now one must pay a King's Ransom on e-bay for copy of it.
  • Power Play (UPN) -> I rather enjoyed this series about a hockey team, and the melodramatic lives of the players and their lovers. Once it disappeared from public view, it was never to be heard from again.
