The axe has been lowered. Not sure what Fox is doing this Monday or the next (the last two episodes were scheduled to air).

As I posted in the general thread, this is Tim Minear's 2nd Fox series to air 4 of 13 produced episodes (other was Wonderfalls), and fourth in a row to be pulled before finishing its run (others were The Inside and Firefly)

This would be the perfect opportunity to move the remaining eps to MNTV....

That would be a good move. Send scraps to sister network. Like NBC does to Bravo.

I too vote for a MyTV play out of the remaining unaired episodes.

TravisYanan, is there any way you could pass this suggestion to your friend who is Mr. Minear's assistant?

The sooner the eps can be aired, the better the numbers will be for FOX's sister network MyTV...it's not too late to find a Thursday, Friday or Saturday slot in the May Sweep.

One further point to consider for the MyTV executive braintrust.

All of Tim Minear's series are considered to be cult classics. Wonderfalls and Firefly sold very well in the dvd marketplace, and I think The Inside will too when its released.

This type of show, with a small but dedicated fanbase, is the type of show that will motivate viewers to get digital hook-ups in MyTV markets where the network is only available in digital distribution.

It also fits like a glove the desire articulated by Mr. Meidel to attract more M18-49 audiences to his network.

Unless FBC will not let it go without recompense for the full licensing costs, this acquisition/lateral should be a slam dunk decision. If I was Mr. Meidel, I would offer FBC 15 cents on the dollar of licensing costs, and I think this will vastly exceed the advertising revenue from an Internet burnoff.

IDK remember when Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was big and it appeared in shortened segments on NBC when the US version of Coupling tanked?

I hate to say "I told you so", but, as I wrote on April 16:
quote:
I was thinking that Drive was just another lame-ass, serialized action-thriller-drama that would flop and be pulled after a few weeks, just like all the other lame-ass, serialized action-thriller-dramas that came and went this season. Everytime I saw one of those endless Fox promos, I just kept thinking why doesn't Fox just save time and a heck of a lot of money and just throw these damn episodes online and DVD and just put House repeats in the Monday timeslot. Why put off the inevitable.

And then on April 17:
quote:
I doubt Drive will be around for May sweeps. It dropped 7% of total viewers and 12% of A18-49 from the previous night's premiere. It's only going to get worse. Fox did much better with a House repeat last week. I'm betting that Fox will soon pull Drive and replace it with House reruns. Drive could return for a summer burn-off, but with Fox, you never know.

So, do I get a Mr. TV bobble-head doll or do I have to wait until Fox makes it official? Smiler

I'm really disappointed in Fox. They made a big mistake not giving this show a launch in a better time slot.

They should've put flipped 24 and Drive and launched it after 24. This is a show that needed a strong lead in to start - or even started it after Idol on a Tuesday.

This was the best Fox show since Reunion. Fox said they were working to not do this to the viewers again - yet they did it.

I am getting tired of the disrespect. With the technology they have now, can't we at least get a DVD set with closure?

Gotta wonder why Tim Minear was still working with Fox at all after Firefly and Wonderfalls (I had forgotten he execed The Inside - I did watch it.)

Seems game shows and cartoons are all el Zorro is really good for, unless you are still watching 24 (I quit it 2 seasons ago.)

Maybe Tim should try a cartoon next?
