FOX TO SPLIT 'DRIVE' SEASON

Citing the show's "tight production schedule," FOX will wrap "Drive's" upcoming five-week/six-episode run on Monday, May 7 with the remaining installments of its initial 13-episode order then airing at a later date.

A split of some sort had been widely expected as the network's summer entry "On the Lot" is due to inherit the Monday, 8:00/7:00c hour starting May 28. (A repeat of "House" will air on May 14 at 8:00/7:00c while the first half of "24's" two-hour season finale will fill the slot on May 21.).

Shouldn't they wait for the show to fail before they split up the 13 episode season? What if it is a big hit - splitting it could kill the momentum and the show (a la Jericho).

I wonder if the show is worse than they thought it would be...
OR
It better than they thought, so they want to save the rest for the fall.

I guess we'll find out in about 2 weeks.

I think this looks good, and would pair well with both 24 and Prison Break next year.

Would it work having Dive and Prison Break alternate the 8pm Hour through the year?

Or Could Drive be viable as a FALL only show at 9pm?

Or

I guess you could start out with Prison Brak and Drive in the fall. Give one show a break when 24 returns, while the other continues through the Feb Sweeps with the season finale. then In March, the hiatus show returns.

having read the rewritten pilot, watched the original pilot, and read episodes two and three...

Drive is fantastic. I have issues with the third episode cliffhanger, mostly because it did exactly what it was supposed to... frustrated me because I wanted more.

I half-epxected this, given that I know production on the rewritten pilot only began in January. That's not enough time for a drama to get 13 episodes wrapped and edited to air by the end of May.

Anyway, here's hoping it succeeds and the remaining 7 episodes of season one are simply added to a season two run (and Fox will be relieved to finally have a companion of Prison Break in its late-summer premiere)!

Well Cool. I think I will certainly sample the first 3 hours then.

The pilot makes me say it is possibly the best new drama of the season. But, I have said that about so many other dramas so it doesn't mean much.

i'm waiting to pass true judgment until i see the damned thing because the original pilot script was my favorite script of last season... but when i saw the filmed version, it fell INCREDIBLY flat. like, i understood why Peter Chernin almost put the complete kabosh on the project (lame greenscreening and way too much of it, the acting wasn't quite there, etc).

i love me some nate fillion so i hope he and the new cast and the new character directions come through on screen the way they have in the three scripts i got to read

The pilot was great. It is sensational, for me Drive's pilot was better than Heroes. I'm instantly hooked whereas Heroes took 6 episodes to really hook me in. The car action scenes are really well done.

So if Drive gets 18 million viewers fox would look really stupid taking it off the air. I hope fox doesn't blow this show.
