Perhaps this is a question for any armchair television historians...
Has Fox made television history by having not one, but TWO, series only last one episode in one season (using a September-to-September season model)?
In addition to the one-and-done "Anchorwoman", Fox mercifully pulled the plug on fellow reality series "The Rich List" (which also aired on Wednesdays, albeit at 9:00 p.m.) after only one airing back on Nov. 1, 2006.

At the very least, they've tied ABC which pulled "Emily's Reasons Why Not" and "Jake in Progress" in the 2005-06 season after both had aired only a single episode.
I cannot recall a broadcast network that has had three "One and Done" shows over the course of a broadcast season.
Yes, jdinan, you're absolutely right on Jake in Progress...it was a second season series indeed.
And in the main Last Night's Results thread, spotupj reports that the Wednesday edition of Anchorwoman was in fact two episodes glommed together for the debut. So, Anchorwoman does not make the "One and Done" dishonour roll either.
So in response to the initial thread question, there is no network in broadcast history that has scheduled two "One and Done" series in one contiguous season.

I'm sure they would have canceled it in between airings if they knew the number it would pull in.

Too my knowledge, the only broadcast series ever cancelled mid-episode was the Australian run of The Oblongs (WB animated series), which was pulled from the air mid-episode by an angered network general manager who phoned the broadcast centre and pulled the plug. The poor Australians never saw the back-end of the episode (on broadcast tv at least).

So clearly, in this case, the FOX higher-ups exhibited patience.
