In a somewhat surprising move, the network has decided to keep ‘Til Death going for a third year, while they’ve had enough of the bickering anchors on Back to You.

Both sitcoms have been ratings-challenged this year but it was expected that Back to You, the flashier of the two, would be given another chance. Likely, it all came down to cost. Freshman Back to You is more expensive, with big name talent Kelsey Grammer and Patrica Heaton in front of the camera and creator Christopher Lloyd behind-the-scenes.

The cancellation put Grammer in an awkward situation tonight as he went on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the season (now series) finale which will air next Wednesday. Meanwhile, ‘Til Death has been given a 13 episode order for next season and is expected to be given a spot on FOX’s fall schedule.

Taking Back to You’s place in the line-up is The Inn, a sitcom whose pilot was directed by Jason Bateman (Arrested Development). Though some have expressed their doubts about the script, the network apparently really likes it and the pilot taping went really well this week. The series’ cast includes Niecy Nash (Reno 911!), Jerry O’Connell (Carpoolers), and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (The Class).

I'm a little upset by this news, personally. I was really, really enjoying "Back To You" and I know a lot of others who did too. Another one of FOX's dumb cancellations. Just the other day, Marc said both were supposed to be coming back? What happened?

This is a perfect chance for ABC or NBC to pick up a sitcom that would be guaranteed to have an audience...so what are we waiting for?

Strange how a little over a year ago there was a bidding war for this show between ABC and FOX. If FOX thought this was too expensive to keep, I doubt ABC will grab it.

Well, I'm sure it would do better else where. It's not a Fox kind of show, so to speak. If it were to follow Dancing With the Stars, it would probably do better than Samantha Who or whatever else follows and fails.

i love this show and iam pissed off that theyre cancelling it!! and as much as i would love for ABC or NBC to pick it up its not gonna happen, abc wont do it cuz theyre already getting scrubs from nbc and maby new adventures of old christine from cbs so it seems unlikely they would get back to you and as for nbc thats not theyre style plus its multicam and they havent had one of those in a while
maby fox will change their minds and realize this is dumb but who knows??

NBC doesn't have a style, currently. They keep changing their minds on what to do. They last multi-cam comedy they had was 20 Good Years, I believe and that aired in 2006 and was canned, but I mean come one, it was paired with 30 Rock!

I just wish NBC would realize no one watches this single cam crap.

Wow, this is a surprise... I thought it was a guarantee. I'm a little saddened since I was watching the show, but at the same time, I didn't think the show was that well written, and even with the two famous co-stars, neither made their character that likeable. The characters were all rather obnoxious. It was amusing at times but that was inconsistent and I never found it laugh-out-loud funny.

I understand that BTY may be more expensive, and if they need to cancell it, thats fine. But Til Death's numbers are horrible. Why keep it around instead? They should have just dumped both.

Til Death is fast becoming FOX's According To Jim or Scrubs.

I think next year Til Death will do much better in the ratings. I also think The Inn and Til Death will be put after American Idol.

Til Death unlike Jim is hilarious. Garret has really shined in the past few weeks. The numbers however, suck and this sort of thing does NOT belong on Fox. If this were CBS, these two shows would be hits. ABC needs to get its act together and poach Back to You for a post-Dancing timeslot on Tuesdays this fall leading into another multi-camera comedy and then Boston Legal on Tuesdays.

Well, my first time ever writing to a network was today asking CBS to consider Back To you for the 2008-09 season.

Back to you hit its stride about 10 episodes in. It would be a nice paring with a show like Old Christine or Rules...

If CBS will grant my wish for 4 total hours of Comedy, they may need Back To you to make it happen.

Here is what I proposed: http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63310451/m/402...=789104021#789104021

I think 7 in the fall with the NFL overrun filling up the other half hour on Sundays with a new comedy at midseason only use Christine on non-overrun weeks with another new comedy going on Wednesdays in the fall.
