Yes, as TV said, it is still dragging down the night. And the show is not going to win back any viewers - it's a bit slow and the storylines with the kids are the most boring lame plots I've ever seen. (Couldn't CBS borrow a few writers from the CW?) I'll watch to the end, mainly for Lana Parilla and Grant Show, but after it's over, I won't be crying over it.

If Swingtown can continue to grow back up in the ratings, that's a great sign that viewers may be coming back.

And congrats to Greatest American Dog, I thought it would be flop, but it wasn't. This could be very similar to Wipeout in the ratings.

I'm absolutely shocked at the ratings Greatest American Dog earned. Never would have I guessed that it would go over 9 million. Next week's ratings will be interesting. I think there's going to be a huge drop.

CSI did a lot better on repeats than the last month or so. Was it a special episode or something?

How did Swingtown manage to lose over 4 million from CSI's audience? Eeker CSI gained over two million this week and Swingtown barely gained a half million, worse than the number two weeks ago. Not good. I said it before, I'll say it again, get rid of Swingtown, put something else there. CBS is just wasting a spot.

While LCS' ratings aren't amazing, it did build in the hours and will win Thursday 10 PM in the demos. It wouldn't surprise me to see it come back again in the summer. It does almost as well in the ratings as something like 30 Rock and is cheaper to produce.

For the third week in a row, Hopkins will be the most watched show Thursday at 10 PM. Not bad for a show that has no lead in.

Yes, and I think this whole cable discussion about this show is a non-starter and ignores the huge difference between cable and broadcast offerings.

This show would need far more than a few tweaks here and there to be cable material. They could take this core "Swingtown" idea but they would pretty much have to scrap the overall tone and context of the show, probably do major though not total recasting, and by the time it got to the point any cable net would be interested, it wouldn't resemble the show some on this board like.

This current concept would be of no interest to any cable net I can think of even given the license of a little tweaking. The basic concept of the show is just too conventional.

Agreed. People talking about a ratings increase over the prior (not quite a holiday) broadcast are kidding themselves. Swingtown was a loser last week as well, but maybe with the overall holiday effect, it was given a pass.

I wouldn't go that far. Swingtown is still one of CBS's stronger demo shows. It will still likely finish ahead of half their lineup for the week. Also, with the numbers as close as they are, there is still a chance that Swingtown won in the viewers for the 10pm hour. Even in Marc's data, Swingtown beat Last Comic Standing even though Marc labeled Swingtown as coming in '#3'.

I'm always amazed when TAR viewers act as if the show has performed on a level near that of Survivor. It isn't even a close race. Survivor is a vastly superior performer.

Wipeout has 4.0 in the demo Wink

GAD did do well over 9 million viewers, but 2.1 in the demo means it skewed pretty old.

Pretty much like the rest of CBS's schedule, high viewer numbers but low demos. Big Grin

Yet another example of most people not really being able to change channels and move around from network to network 'independently'. CBS has the old people stranglehold, but the young people only turn to the channel for a very few programs.

But, that gap has closed precipitously over the years. Survivor has fallen quite a bit while TAR was on the brink of cancellation in its early years but it has increased and remained stable.

Oh ya,

CBS is wasting another great spot to put repeats in.

To me it is just hysterical. Do these old people know how to use a remote control ? I mean do they just leave their TV's tuned to CBS, and just watch whatever they have on every single night ? It is really quite funny. Other than the CBS sitcoms, Survivor, and The Amazing Race this network has the same old people watching all the other shows. They are going to be in some big trouble several years from now, when you know what will happen to a lot of their viewers.

The network will be fine, the viewers that are "young" now will be old at that point and will be watching only CBS replacing the one's that "dropped off". Big Grin
