-Ratings Breakdown: Led by the live Dancing With the Stars Results Show (how do you like that Marie Osmond?), ABC was the most-watched network on Tuesday, but House-ignited Fox ranked first among adults 18-49. CBS was third in total viewers and fourth among adults 18-49, NBC was just the opposite, and the CW finished a distant fifth.
CBS powerhouse NCIS dominated from 8-9 p.m., with a hefty 17.38 million viewers and a 3.7 rating/11 share among adults 18-49. And ABC was on the map care of repeat holiday specials A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (Viewers: #2, 9.96 million; A18-49: #2, 3.3/10) and He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown (Viewers: #2, 10.44 million; A18-49: #2, 3.5/ 9), which were a vast improvement over regularly scheduled occupants Cavemen and Carpoolers.
Third in the 8 p.m. hour was Fox’s Bones (Viewers: 8.74 million; A18-49: 3.0/ 9), followed by the first half of a two-hour edition of NBC’s The Biggest Loser (Viewers: 7.22 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 8), and the CW’s lowly Beauty and the Geek (Viewers: 2.56 million; A18-49: 1.3/ 4). One year earlier, the CW’s then fading Gilmore Girls averaged a considerably heftier 4.20 million viewers with a 1.9/ 5 among adults 18-49 on Nov. 21, 2006.
At 9 p.m., leadership was shared as follows:
Dancing With the Stars (ABC) Viewers: 20.74 million (#1), A18-49: 4.9/12 (#2)
House (Fox) Viewers: 16.81 million (#2), A18-49: 6.8/17 (#1)
Also airing from 9-10 p.m. was CBS military drama The Unit (Viewers: #3, 10.69 million; A18-49: #4, 3.1/ 8), the second half of NBC’s The Biggest Loser (Viewers: #4, 7.87 million; A18-49: #3, 3.4/ 8), and a repeat of the CW’s Reaper (Viewers: #5, 1.77 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 2), which is heading to hiatus in January in place of the returning One Tree Hill. Overall, The Biggest Loser averaged a typical 7.55 million viewers with a 3.1/ 8 in the demo from 8-10 p.m.
ABC moved into the 10 p.m. winner’s circle care The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, with 12.76 million viewers and a 4.2/11 among adults 18-49. What is the deal with these women on The Bachelor who cry that their hearts were broken? Do they really know this guy? A close second was NBC’s veteran Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: 11.66 million; A18-49: 3.9/11), which is down by double-digits year-to-year, followed by CBS’ struggling Cane at 7.64 million viewers and a 2.0/ 5 in the demo. One year earlier, former CBS occupant 3 Lbs. averaged 9.21 million viewers and a 2.7/ 7 in the demo. And that drama lasted only three episodes. Tick, tock…the cancellation clock is ticking on Cane.

House is really dominating (though I didn't really like this episode, seemed almost like a self-parody), I wonder how many seasons this show will go on; 7-8 seems possible if they can keep HL. By the way, I read that he's paid 300k per episode. That doesn't seem very high, isn't Zach Braff paid about as much for Scrubs with far lower ratings? And were not all the cast members of Friends paid 1m each per episode? Why is HL wage so "low" when this whole hit series relies on him with so much screen time?

Most actors sign a five year contract in that they are tied to the show for five years if the studio or network wants them there(even though the network can fire them--like Isaih Washington--they legally are contracted to the show.) During those five years they can renegotiate terms like salary, etc. LIke Friends or any other show--Seinfeld, Raymond--the true money comes after the five year period because this is where the actors have more leverage because they are now renegotiating a "fresh" contract if they want this actor back "under contract" to continue the show. This is where Friends stars got their hefty raise to $750k and then to $1 million the following year. So my guess is that if the show is still very popular after it's fifth season, HL will get a gigantic pay raise to continue doing this wildly successful show and be up there with the best of them.
So what's the deal with Reaper? Did I miss them getting a script or pick-up order? Or are they just holding what's left of the new episodes for 'later'? Or come to think of it -- do they even have any more new episodes?
If there was any justice in the world, then Marie Osmond will not win DWTS
