I have no interest in WIPEOUT, but I do think that Japanese Game Show sounds promising and will check that one out.

First, comparing the ratings for "Nashville Star" on USA and NBC is not really fair. Virtually any series that airs on broadcast network vs. cable network is going to do better on the broadcast network.
Bottom line on "Star" is that it (nor "American Gladiators") would even be airing on NBC if it weren't being run (into the ground) by Ben Silverman who just happens to have a producer credit on both shows.
Concerning "The Mole", on ABC, I don't discount the criticisms listed against it as to why it doesn't have more viewers. It performed well during its first season when it aired earlier in the evening (at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays - against "American Idol"). Perhaps airing it as the lead-in to "The Bachelorette" as opposed to the lead-out would have helped the series.
As far as "The Mole" being confusing, I don't find it anymore confusing than either "Survivor" or "The Amazing Race" on CBS. I would argue that most viewers could have watched last nights episode - its fourth - and gotten the gist of the series without having seen the previous three (especially with the recaps and flashbacks provided before and during the show).
It should be noted that its viewership last night (4.1 million) was up from last week (3.8 million) and its highest viewership since its debut...
"The Mole" viewership track: Week 1: 4.73 million Week 2: 3.97 Week 3: 3.89 Week 4: 4.11 Avg: 4.18 million
Since most competition reality series build in audience from the premiere to the finale, perhaps "The Mole" started its slow climb last night.

Wipeout sounds like a direct copycat of MXC, which is the best show on Spike if you ask me. As for the bad streak, what bad streak? ABC just finished second on the season in the demo and they've gone 1 for 2 on summer shows so far.

I have a feeling Wipeout and Japanese Game Show will get decent samplings tonight, but likely won't finish first in overalls (Hell's Kitchen will win both overall and 18-49 at 9p. Wipeout could win 18-49 at 8p). Still unsure about Celebrity Feud -- I'll be checking it out, but it doesn't seem that NBC has given the show the promotional push that ABC has given the other shows.
Bachelorette -- good ratings for what was essentially a 90 minute show STRETCHED to two hours. My wife, who was eager for the Wipeout premiere, started souring on it due to the extended infomercials for the show. Curious if anyone else did as well (to me, it just exposed Wipeout as being repetitive and boring).
Nashville Star -- maybe it's me, but I'm thinking NBC thought Nashville Star would be stronger in terms of ratings -- perhaps 8-9 million viewers and 2.5 in the demo.
The demos for this show aren't great compared to the competition, and the show seems to be falling in the same traps that hurt the Grease reality show -- specifically overdependance on pop tunes over the intended genre. Yes, pop and country have gone together ever since the days of Eddy Arnold, but I don't want to see future country stars covering The Police.
The Mole: ABC should have aired Mole at 8p and moved Bachelorette to 9p. Mole is a lot more "family friendly" than the Bachelor franchise will ever be.

I agree. They'd also get to see something that's not mindless garbage.

CBS pulled How I Met Your Mother and Rules of Engagement from their Thursday schedule today. They were supposed to air starting at 8:00 the next two Thursdays. They are substituting repeats of the first two Million Dollar Password episodes for the next two weeks. I guess the ratings for the sitcoms on Thursday were just too low to continue. Although, I do not think Password repeats will do much better. See here :

My statement was more focused on their attempts as a successful non-scripted series since DWtS, but you could go as far as saying ANY new series, IMO.

I agree. I usually can't stand the bachelor because of the fake phony girls, but the bachelorette has been entertaining. I think Deanna was a great choice and seems very genuine as do her remaining choices. I think whoever she ends up with, they will likely get married.

I guess they decided to go with maintaining the 'genre' for the timeslot by returning it to something closer to Reality television: Greatest American Dog starts in a few weeks in that timeslot. I think this change will hurt Greatest American Dog (and even Survivor), though, as it will have a lower number of 18-49 viewers trained to CBS Thursday night, 8pm than if they had stuck with the comedies.
