-Yesterday’s Winners: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Fox), So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)
-Fading Fast: Swingtown (CBS)
-Yesterday’s Losers (Excluding Repeats): Last Comic Standing (NBC), Fear Itself (NBC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Fox led this third Thursday in June with is combination of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Viewers: #1, 7.80 million; A18-49: #1, 1.9 rating/7 share) and the live So You Think You Can Dance results show (Viewers: #1, 8.78 million; A18-49: #1, 3.0/ 9). Comparatively, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? was the most-watched and highest rated show in the demo for the evening.
Second was CBS with its combination of repeats of How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #2, 4.20 million; A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 5), Rules of Engagement (Viewers: #2, 4.41 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 5) and CSI (Viewers: #2, 7.67 million; A18-49: #3, 2.0/ 6) from 8-10 p.m., followed by week three of sinking Swingtown at 6.06 million viewers and a 2.1/ 6 among adults 18-49 (which was still enough to win the 10 p.m. hour !). Comparably, Swingtown has dropped by 2.51 million viewers and 25 percent in the demo in just two weeks. Take a look at the three-week metered market track:
NBC finished third overall with its line-up of a repeat of The Office (Viewers: #3, 3.56 million; A18-49: #3, 1.2/ 5), The Last Comic Standing (Viewers: 4.52 million; A18-49: 1.3/ 6 from 8:30-10 p.m.) and week three of dramatic anthology Fear Itself (Viewers: #2, 4.66 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 5), which continues to disappoint. Here is the three-week track:
Fear Itself (NBC) 6/06/08 - Viewers: 5.26 million (#3), A18-49: 2.0/ 6 (#3) 6/13/08- Viewers: 4.87 million (#3), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#3) 6/20/08 – Viewers: 4.66 million (#2), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#2)
Next was ABC with encores of Ugly Betty (Viewers: #4, 3.05 million; A18-49: #4t, 0.8/ 3 at 8 p.m.) and two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy as follows:
Grey’s Anatomy R (ABC) 9:00 p.m. - Viewers: 3.15 million (#5), A18-49: 1.0/ 3 (#4) 10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 3.34 million (#3), A18-49: 1.1/ 3 (#3)
Last, and very least, were repeats of the CW’s Smallville (Viewers: 2.20 million; A18-49: 0.8/ 3), which is expected to conclude next season, and Supernatural (Viewers: 1.92 million; A18-49: 0.6/ 2), which will not benefit once Smallville ends.
Sucky numbers all around. Boy, does GA not repeat well. I guess people have had it with the stickiness! Not good for Swingtown, esp since creatively it has picked up!
Not surprised at all about Swingtown. It needs to fade out. Fear Itself was really good last nite. It reminded more of the original Twilight Zone. I wish they had done this episode first, instead of the horror genre; more people may have stayed tuned. I wonder if it gets more hits online, since its episodes are really self contained.
I completely agree that the last episode of Fear Itself was its best yet. It's a shame that the audiene had to wait until episode 3 to get a good movie. If I was NBC, I would have made it the first episode. The good news is the audience is staying consistent. The bad news is that the ratings are low.
I'd consider Swingtown a loser. Yes, it won the hour with very little competition, but those numbers are terrible for a CBS show. Drama repeats pull in higher numbers than that. Unfortunately, this show just doesn't belong on CBS and I don't see it continuing on to next summer. I hope Flashpoint can bring in decent numbers for CBS. It should fit with the CBS crowd more than Swingtown and it looks overall like a much better show. Props to the promo department who made Flashpoint's promos. They look amazing.
I'm not sure I'd label AYSTA5thG a winner either. Ratings were good but demos were really low. That being said, if it even does these numbers when it moves to Friday, it is going to jump start FOX Fridays which is something FOX hasn't seen in years. Props to FOX's scheduling department who got it right.
Second was CBS with its combination of repeats of How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #2, 4.20 million; A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 5), Rules of Engagement (Viewers: #2, 4.41 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 5)
I don't think a second helping of the comedies on Thursdays is really doing much.
Perhaps reairing the 1st season of Survivor might spark a little interest over the summer.

The promos are good, but they stuck it on Fridays at 10. I can't see it pulling good numbers there.

Only two more weeks of comedies on Thursdays. Then Greatest American Dog takes that time slot on July 10. However, it really makes you wonder how those comedies are going to do on Wednesday nights this Fall. CBS comedies seem to bomb out any night other than on Mondays.

I don't think the slide in ratings as reached its bottem yet. Its lost 2.5 million viewers in just 2 weeks. Expect lowers numbers next week. Say 5.25 million-ish
