Upcoming Daily Games include an NBA Finals-Swingtown-Fear Itself tripleheader for Thursday and the very first viewer-only PIFC Daily Game set for Saturday's final leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, ABC's 140th Belmont Stakes (will Big Brown become the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years?). If the NHL Stanley Cup Finals goes to a Game 7, the Saturday game will also include this event, and you will be able to guess its viewer and demo data.
Do the ratings for hockey account for the live aspect where it started at 5 pm PDT, and went until after 10 pm? Or do they count viewership in the actual local 8 - 11 pm timeslot (so that West Coast viewers at the start of the game don't get counted)? I don't understand this stuff too well, though I've been lurking here for months.
I just posted an excerpt of an article from today of one of my favorite columnists in New York, Bob Raissman (who writes mostly about sports media). Today's article is about those from (what Raissman describes as) the "Bristol Clown Community College" aka ESPN. Feel free to read and comment on it here!

I guess I'm one of those people who believe that the quality of a show should be the benchmark by which it should be judged, and the style or format of the show shouldn't be the sole criteria on which something should be judged. It's like saying that you hoped the low ratings that Cavemen and Carpoolers got would be an indicator that sitcoms are in their dying years. I've never watched The Bachelor/Bachelorette but I do know that The Mole is an enjoyable show that deserves better ratings than it got on Monday.
I tried watching The Mole, but I got so bored with it. The hockey game last night was much better. GO PENS!

I have tried multiple times to watch the big bang theory but I just don't find it funny -- more annoying, especially sheldon's fit over not having the fourth wheel. I know many of you love him and wish that he be nominated, but does he just grow on you or the show? I really don't think it's that funny and not sure if i'm just not catching the best episodes.
Rules does rule, it is a funny show.
I don't understand the idea of the mole and that's a difficult time slot and hey -- repeats of DH are doing like 3.74 million, so this isn't that bad.

I think he's best in small doses. The show had a string of really Sheldon-centric episodes just after the strike (probably because he had focus grouped so well or something) and it was easily the weakest string of eps the show has had. He may get the best lines, but The Sheldon Show does not work. When they got back to more of an ensemble feel for the last few eps, it was stronger.

I know you're a big ABC fan and all but lets be honest. ABC is likely saying to itself, this is DOA, drop the promos, and go for Wipeout. Yes a repeat on Sunday of the premiere would likely outdo DH repeats but due to NBA finals and all that it doesn't make any sense to wait and then relaunch and blah blah blah because in the long run it probably will still flop. I just think there's been too much reality this year and that in the end, that will hurt not only this summer's other offerings, but also new stuff in the fall like Toughest Jobs on NBC and Opportunity Knocks on ABC.
