ABC- CMA's did well in the time slots even though i would never watch it CBS- kid nation seems to be solid at those numbers but jericho did better nbc- life and bionic women should be cancelled, dropping severly fox- AVERAGE cw- antm is a hit, gossip girl cancellation clock is ticking
Gossip Girl has a full-season (however long that will be with the strike) pickup.
ANTM was 2nd in the demo, this has happened a few times before.

Pisher, I'm sure you came up with this comment weeks ago... and you just couldn't wait until this morning to spring it on us. How long have you been sitting at your desk refreshing this page until Marc posted the results so you could be the first to respond? Impressive.
The strong premiere viewership actually makes the situation worse, IMO. "Bionic Woman" reached its intended audience, that audience simply rejected it. NBC has a nearly impossible task in reversing that judgment.
Oh agreed, obviously, but it also makes it hard for the network to just pull the plug, after spending so much money, and coming so close to a hit they could smell it.
I mean, here's the thing--we hit them from both sides. This is about the last week I want to be defending the networks, but the fact is that we criticize them for canceling shows too soon, and for canceling them too late.
We all know that when NBC axes BW, there will be aggrieved fans saying they didn't support the show.
Gossip Girl actually did better than Reaper. That is pretty surprising to me. Reaper is a weekly-type show where you can watch one week, miss the next, and not miss anything in terms of plot. Gossip Girl requires people to return each week. I thought, by this time, Reaper would be doing better.

I kept saying, if given time, "Life" would grow to have just about perfect retention from its lead-in. And now it has! See, network executives, how good patience can be?

Oh and here is something..the WGA President Patrick Verone, was on the KTLA morning show earlier and he is one shady person. If I were a member of the WGA, I would not trust him. I mean, he mentioned they were willing to meet and negotiate anytime, but it was up to the AMPTP. See here is my thing, if the WGA is so willing to meet, than why in the world did they decide to strike? That makes no sense to me. I think they should have continued to work without a contract, as long as the negotiations were still happening. There is just something shady about this whole thing.

Do you mean rebounding after the strike, or just in general, because it's current numbers are the way it has been for a few weeks now, and it will just stay that way it seems.

Well, it's not that Gossip Girl itself did better than usual, because it was also down from last week. (In the fast nationals, anyway.) It's just that Reaper is down more for whatever reason.
The decline of Bionic Woman is not at all surprising to me, as I expected it to happen from the moment I saw the pilot.
I didn't even need to see the pilot. I'm very good at reading between the lines.

By the way, Sackhoff is a negative on the show for me, not a positive.
She's a negative for me in that I hate to see a terrific talent wasted in a pointless role. But as the lead, she would have been far superior to whatsername. Not a negative for her that this didn't happen, though.

Peace!!
Work without a contract, really? Wouldn't they have to ultimately strike anyway if the negotiations failed? And how would that help the negotiations post-strike? That's an unrealistic look at the situation.
I wouldn't brand KID NATION as a loser. It's comes in second in its slot week after week. While as said before it should have been left for the summer...I think CBS should consider a second version to fill in during this writers's strike.
With that said KID NATION unwisely shifted the focus off star TAYLOR to different kids that appear only on the episode they win the gold star and then vanish the following week.
Re: THe strike...I read on MEDIA LIFE that 24 is also considering returning in 2009! Can you believe that! That's just too long to wait for that and LOST. They need to figure something out.

It's surprising to you that the show which airs after the show which has double the audience of the show the other one airs after did better than the show that airs after the one with half the audience of the one that follows the show that did better? Huh?!

Semantics. Flip "Trollop Girl" and "Reaper," and we'll see if "Reaper" is still doing worse after "America's Next Top Model."

It was FIFTH in its time slot in 18-49. Maybe sixth. I didn't see what Univision did yet.
Either way, throw in the inability to tape a second series in the United States, the backlash, the lower ratings than "Jericho," and the sheer worthlessness of the show, and you have a prime candidate for a one-season wonder.
