NBC needs to take a note from the fat people watching The Biggest Loser and give The Office a brand new timeslot away from CSI: and Grey's to the post-Biggest Loser slot at 9:30pm. NBC should turn Thursdays away from the single-cams and go back the traditional multi-cams Must See TV Thursday block. NBC can alternate brand new episodes of 30 Rock with The Office in that slot throughout the season since neither show repeats well anyways.
A representative from Tribune Stations said he was not happy about the next 2 years in the syndication market b/c the networks have not produced enough watchable sitcoms over the last 3 years and its going to hurt their market. They will probably be looking at off-net/cable sitcoms like TBS' Bill Engvall and Lifetime's Rita Rocks down the line to fill that void like Tyler Perry's House of Payne has successfully. Tyler Perry had a huge week last week getting a series high in syndication for FOX Television Stations with 4.2 million viewers. The Big Bang Theory will be the next big syndication acquisition in 2011 as it would look to get 6-8 million viewers in its first few years. Also How I Met Your Mother, Christine, Rules, and Gary will try to fill that void. Surviving Suburbia is the one the syndication officials are really hoping gets off the ground and becomes a hit for ABC as it is available for syndication in 2013.
NBC should think about firing everybody by season's end and promote NBC Universal's programmer Bonnie Hammer to being the new chief of NBC. She has completely made a huge turn around with the USA Network and making that the #1 cable network since 2006 along with making Sci-Fi Channel more mainstream.
The CW is a network that should shut down but they've got a gem called Privileged. I've watched all of its new episodes for the month of February on DVR and its an amazing show. Definitely not the type of show that is going to be watched by the masses but a special show. Last night's episode was probably the final episode of the series and that's sad b/c its a nice little gem for The Can't Watch Network. Lucy Hale is an upcoming star who needs to be on a show that hits and she really shines on this show with her mischievous and innocent character. I knew Hale was something special when she was on Bionic Woman last season. Unfortunately for a show like Privileged its a show that continues to reflects the true reputation of The CW. That's one of the reasons why it took me six months to finally watch it. Well it was a nice little show and now b/c of Ostroff's mistakes it will not be.
NCIS is a beast in overall viewing yes and still not too shabby in the demos either. So how long can NCIS last? As long as JAG? NBC really should develop a female skewing comedy and put it after The Biggest Loser wither as an one hour installment or 1 1/2 hours. If Bonnie Hammer took over NBC, I think that would be a major plus. She did wonders with USA and Sci-fi like you stated. She knew that to make USA strong , she would have to get back its flagship show with was WWE Raw (with she did). If she took over NBC, I would except a throw back to the 90's with multi cam comedies galore. (Hey, oh the plus side NBC is developing a multi cam comedy right?)
I think why most people wish the WB was back instead of the CW is that they conduct themselves like a cable network and focus on a small demo which is probably not working. Hell, USA could put NCIS/House in primetime with no new episodes and probably still beat the CW in viewers (I know viewers don't exactly mean as much as the demo but you get my point).
BlueLick I find your cloumns to be pretty fun to read.

I think the rating show Katie Was #2 for the presidents speech. So I think that means people do want her. I mean what has the lady done to you? I am 22 year old male who has never watched evening news that is until Ms. Katie Couric. I watched CBS coverage on CBS and there entire webcast. I must also say I watch Katie Couric on the evening news religously everynight. I for one Love Katie. I mean come on you would rather watch STIFF boring Brian Williams? I like Charlie Gibson also. However Katie is the Lady right now. In closing Barbara Walters is a joke. I mean i recently saw her on the View talking about Hugh Jackman not being Gay. I was Disgusted someone her age would talk about stuff like. Wake up Ms. Walters and do us all a favor and RETIRE. Your time has come and gone especially with tastless comments like that.
SICKENNNNNNNNNING and I mean that in a bad way you are Ms. Walters.
SHame on you for stooping to levels no real journalist would.

Yes, because "The Oprah Winfrey Show" airs as "The View's" lead-in at 9 a.m. and still scores huge ratings here. No competing program has even come close to touching her since she's held down that slot, and this has been going on close to 25 years now.

Interesting. Oprah at 9am. Strange because one would think they'd lose the pre-teen girls who love her with that programming move. She airs at 4:00 almost everywhere else in the country as a local news lead in.

Originally posted by BlueLick: Can you do me a favor? Post the same early morning and daytime ratings for these six markets: Denver, Charlotte, Detroit, Cleveland, Seattle, and Atlanta. I really want to see Detroit since they are close to Toronto and I know our audience is usually the same as Detroit's. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, no Seattle-Tacoma data for this date.
Thanks so much Douglas and thank you for adding The View to it. No biggie about Seattle-Tacoma as I just wanted to see how another West Coast city was doing outside of LA. Again THANKS!
Chicago must really love The View as they got a 20 share out of that town.
Those daytime numbers are fascinating. Most assume that soaps are dead, but they pull really strong numbers in certain numbers. I mean, a 5 rating for AMC in Charlotte? Who would have thought?

Oprah is big with pre-teen girls?
Well not just them but folks who get off of work and get done with classes in college. My sister has watched Oprah since she was probably 12 along with her friends. That's not to say all young girls watch it but I'm sure many do.
ABC Made $72 Million on 26 Minutes of Oscar Ads By Jon Lafayette
ABC sold 26 minutes of advertising time for about $72 million in its Feb. 22 Academy Awards broadcast, the most since 2004, TNS Media Intelligence says.
The high number of sales came despite General Motors and L’Oreal, two major sponsors, pulling out.
“This year’s tumultuous economic climate was both a boon and a bane to ABC’s Academy Awards telecast. While several major advertisers dropped out of this year’s event, it allowed new brands to participate,” said Dean DeBiase, CEO of TNS Media. “Despite a challenging business climate and an overall downward trend in audience ratings, marketers understand the unique power of TV advertising for marquee events such as the Academy Awards.”
With those advertisers withdrawn, Hyundai was the top sponsor, with eight commercial units taking up four and a half minutes. Also with eight units were Coca-Cola and JC Penney. Coke had four minutes of ad time and Penney had three and a half.
Hyundai was a first-time Oscar advertiser. Other newbies in the broadcast were Sprint-Nextel, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Disney Touchstone Pictures, Hoover Vacuums, Paramont Pictures and Maytag.
The Oscars allowed movie advertising for the first time this year.
ABC itself had 6 minutes and 20 seconds of network promos in the Oscars, up from 5:40 and the most since 2006.
The network dropped the price of a 30-second unit in the awards show to $1.4 million from $1.65 million-$1.7 million, according to TNS, which estimates last year's Oscars generated about $81 million.

Did anyone see Lost last night? I missed the first half. How was it?
A very good Locke-centric episode--Terry O'Quinn was terrific. Everybody was. Well, except for Evangeline Lilly, who never is. But I guess she doesn't have to be.
I just watched it online. Really good and we finally have a few answers.
