I think the horror movie angle could work. Ther are a lot of horror movie fans out there and they tend to be cultish. If CW can captivate that audience, it might serve them well. quote: Originally posted by channelserf: It seems like, next season, the CW is going for a lot of "names" (or, at least, people that have fan bases) to try to draw new viewers. Which isn't a horrible idea. If doing a show with Sam Raimi (who directed the Spiderman movies) can make more people aware the CW even exists, it can't hurt.
Oh, yeah, Sam Raimi is doing a horror-reality show for the CW called 13. Meaning the CW doesn't want to give up on reality shows yet. But they're going for something different from their usual, "Pick a supermodel/dancer/wife/beauty queen," fare.

I read a couple articles and it sounds interesting (unlike anything else out there reality wise) I'll check it out.

There are half a dozen cable networks that have higher ratings than the CW, and that number is growing. USA has some of the best branding with its character driven shows such as Monk and Psych, FX has strong edgy shows, TNT (I believe) has Saving Grace), Bravo has their slew of reality competitions. The CW has nothing worth talking about, so I doubt they can survive unless they raise their avg to 4 million viewers and a 2.0 in the demo.

Some of the press headlines and press releases for today's ratings results amuzed me, so I'm sharing:
- 'Moment of Truth' Wins Big ... There Were No Survivors (from FOX's press release)
and my favorite: - 'Survivor' can't handle the 'Truth' (from the Hollywood Reporter)

Actually TNT's biggest claim to fame is The Closer. As for the CW, there is no way this network will ever get close to 4 million average unless they revamp, change the name and expand their target demo. Otherwise, watch for its demise, coming soon to a TV near you. quote: Originally posted by Chimera: There are half a dozen cable networks that have higher ratings than the CW, and that number is growing. I knew I was forgetting a big one. Thanks.

So, does it matter if Survivor beats MoT in viewers?

I haven't watched more than the first 20 minutes of the series premiere, but it reaked of "acting" to me...

ABC announces details for the Pennsylvania Democratic debate on April 16 -- I know a few folks were asking about the time and other details: quote: ABC NEWS, NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER & WPVI-TV TO HOST DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE DEBATE IN PHILADELPHIA ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16 at 8:00 P.M., ET/PT
Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos to Moderate
ABC News, the National Constitution Center and WPVI-TV will host a Democratic Presidential Candidate debate in Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 16. The live debate, which is scheduled to run 90 minutes, will be moderated by ABC News anchors Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos and will air from 8:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT on the ABC Television Network.
The debate between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The format of the debate and information about media credentialing will be announced at a later date.
"Coming just days before the critical Pennsylvania primary, the debate will give voters across the state and throughout the country an opportunity to hear the candidates talk in depth about the important issues facing the nation," said ABC News President David Westin.
"The National Constitution Center is pleased and proud to host the Democratic Presidential Candidates debate in Historic Philadelphia. Just a few feet from Independence Hall -- the very place our nation was formed 'We the People' will be reminded of the importance of active citizenship and the power of every vote," said National Constitution Center President and CEO Joseph M. Torsella.
"Serving our viewers is always critically important at 6abc, but that is never more true than during an election," said WPVI President and General Manager Bernie Prazenica. "We are extremely pleased to be able to help bring this debate to our community at this vital juncture and to give the people of the Delaware and Lehigh Valley's a chance to hear from the candidates before they make their voices heard on April 22."
More Americans get their news from ABC News than from any other source. Through its platforms on television, radio, and the Internet, ABC News reaches on average nearly 180 million people in a given month. ABC News programs are seen in 88 countries worldwide. ABC News, along with Facebook and WMUR-TV, hosted back-to-back Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidate debates in New Hampshire on January 5. The Democratic debate was watched by 9.36 million people more than any other debate this election cycle.

You really have to wonder about the IQ of the people writing these articles. The Hollywood reporter article, for example, cites that: CBS tried to give "Survivor" some cover by shifting the reality show from Thursday to Wednesday this week to avoid the NCAA tournament. How could anyone in charge of writing these articles be unaware that the NCAA tournament and Survivor are on the same network?
