Well kind of. They do have security personal but it isn't like the sound and camera guy who actually travels with them. But they are kept in contact with them (through the camera and sound guy), so that when trouble happens they can hopefully get their quickly enough.

I think we both said the same thing. I called them 'a pair of guys with each race pair' and you labeled them by jobs 'cameraman and sound guy'. Either way, two young blondes randomly stopping and talking to people in afooereign land are at risk, but when you add two more people and cameras and walkie-talkie links, the risk is low. Then, like we both said, there are additional security forces following along (more in high risk areas) so that teams getting into trouble can be rescued. So far, the closest the US TAR has come to real trouble was the brother team that got lost in Morrocco in season #3. On the other hand, a team in this season's Amazing Race Brazil was robbed during the race. The cameras were stolen (while filming) along with everything else the two women racing had.

You must not be a bones fan because putting it on Fridays is like death -- as it was for Las Vegas and almost for Law and Order and every Fox show that has ever gone there.

You must not be paying attention to the ratings because BONES has been do really well there with it's repeat airings.

It was starting to push 7 million viewers, with repeats. I would bet New episodes would battle for first place in its time slot.

2-3 times better than the crap thats been there the last few years.

Mondays is actually a worse slot for BONES, IMO.

We're starving for decent live audience comedies so scrapping 'Til Death would be a huge mistake.

It would be much better served on Wed nights prior to Idol along with Back To You.

I'm starting to come around to the idea that Bones could do well on Friday's. Shows like Ghost whisper and Numbers have done well there. Even Las Vegas lived on for several years.

I like the Tuesday Bones/House pairing best. And I agree about Monday's vs Dancing and the CBS comedies. That is a tough and totally new timeslot for Bones.

The Wednesday editions do not count in the yearly avererage, correct?

Survivor won't air at all next week. No, the Wednesday addition would not count in the season average. I have no idea why they didn't do a clip (recap) show this year or last, but the declining ratings in general are a likely reason.

Maybe should just reshow this weeks episode next week. Wink

I guess the fact that these low rated Wednesday editions don't count in the averages balance out the fact that the higher rated season finales on Sundays don't count either.

I'm at a loss for why Survivor is down so much over the last few seasons. It's been as entertaining as ever. I know it's in its 16th(?) season, but really only its 7th year, and plenty of great shows thrive in year seven. I guess I'm blinded by my love for the show! Smiler

It seems like, next season, the CW is going for a lot of "names" (or, at least, people that have fan bases) to try to draw new viewers. Which isn't a horrible idea. If doing a show with Sam Raimi (who directed the Spiderman movies) can make more people aware the CW even exists, it can't hurt.

Oh, yeah, Sam Raimi is doing a horror-reality show for the CW called 13. Meaning the CW doesn't want to give up on reality shows yet. But they're going for something different from their usual, "Pick a supermodel/dancer/wife/beauty queen," fare.

Has there ever been a reality show of this type last this long?

Wasn't it up last week over the past few weeks now that the Death Star has moved off?

The spring edition is always down from the fall. It is a short time between editions and it has to deal with Idol. I'd expect next fall that Survivor to be around 14 million and a 4.5. The ability to rebound a bit in the fall is the reason why, even though the show has been in general decline for years, it keeps on trucking along.

I only watched a bit of Brazil since I don't speak the language. But yeah teams have been robbed of possessions in regular AR, teams ahve certainly been swindled and taken advantage of, been in areas were executions happened earlier in the day. The only time I know of that the producers truly lost a team was in the first season, when a team lost (for several hours) its satellite link with the producers. Out lost (and they were lost no on ein the vehicle new where they were) in a huge ass desert. Scared the hell out of all the racers and I am sure the producers as well.

You are right about its longevity, which is why I'm wondering if going to once-a-year might be the best bet for it in the near future. Much like Idol, I think it would benefit if a "demand" was created by making fans wait a longer period of time between editions. I think Amazing Race would be a great place holder in the spring, with Survivor kicking off CBS in the fall.

Hahaha Marc, I applaud your outside-of-the-box thinking, but I highly doubt the show would work with male models. Half the fun of the show comes from the drama and emotion that the females bring -- I think the males would be pretty "blah" and downright boring.

It's pretty clear that Jezebel James and Canterbury's Law won't be coming back. FOX is just burning them off on Friday to get rid of them. Not a bad strategy. Why waste a Monday slot on Canterbury's Law that is hopeless?
