Isn't the #1 show on the CW now Friday Night Smackdown?
Its now the show that can draw over 4 million viewers on the ugly green Net.
It sure is, and in fact its been their strongest from the get go. Since Top Model and Smallville both get rerun that deflates their year long ratings. While WWE is almsot always new and thus gives them strong ratings (for them) on a year round basis.
Why didn't CBS do a Survivor recrap this week and just preempt the show next week (or vice versa)? The preemption does its own damage, but it is still better than the wednesday editions IMO.
The Wednesday editions do not count in the yearly avererage, correct?
Many critics have said that ANTM should do an all male version to add new life to the series. So far, Tyra hasn't gone for it but she really should. The whole show is getting stale.

ANTM only gets clips shows, rarely if ever actual reruns (maybe 2 per year), so that shouldn't affect its ratings too much.
And Smackdown is leaving the CW for MyTV, so the CW could conceivably slip even further. Unless the CW has a dramatic turnaround next season, I think it's history. The WB was in much better ratings shape and if it couldn't survive, this pale carbon copy sure can't.

Hell they could just follow Bravo and do a mixed sex season.
I was pleasently surprised how much more I am enjoying Make Me A supermodel over the few cycles of Top Model that I have watched over the years

actually in the last two years they have rerun whole cyles of Top Model (just not on the same night) as the original broadcast. They use it as filler, whent hey need to. And they have often needed to.

Survivor won't air at all next week. No, the Wednesday addition would not count in the season average. I have no idea why they didn't do a clip (recap) show this year or last, but the declining ratings in general are a likely reason.

Proof that critics are clueless...especially when they attempt to comment on shows they don't even watch.

It is in its 10 Cycle. Same suituation as Survivor. Nothing lasts forever, but the belief that you can get extended life with massive gimmicks or reducing the show to 1 run per year are both WRONG for Survivor and ANTM.
Originally posted by College Basketball Fan: I LOVE Survivor, but for the sake of the show's long-term prospects, isn't it time CBS cut it to once a year? Two seasons per year is taking its toll at this point.
Not for awhile. It's still one of the highest rated shows on CBS and still wins its timeslot regularly. Maybe in two years they might follow TAR's pattern, but for the 2008-09 season, two seems right.
