I think that is all CBS would do now or even next week, is use a plug for the slot. Power of 10 or CSI repeats, perhaps an occational special until after the new year. Then we'll see TAR

CBS were to act, they could start promoting a new program in the 8pm slot tonight. That would give it a about a full week of promotion and viewers would be reqady for it in advance.

I don't think a new show/season can be launched successfully on a week's notice, especially slotted against the World Series. "Power of 10," which is essentially filler programming anyway, could be the only exception.

My guess is that CBS would simply plug in a crime drama rerun for next Sunday if "Viva Laughlin" gets pulled.

I expect VL to have a very low demo number, less than a 2.0.

I guess the good news is that it didn't bring down Cold Case's numbers from a "normal" week (last week was boosted by football overrun).

I also second Marc's one more airing prediction. It goes with CBS' three-and-out philosophy (Smith, 3 Lbs.)

A third airing wouldn't do anything except give viewers the chance to flee the time slot next Sunday in advance.

CBS cancelled "The Will" after one episode, it can certainly cancel "Viva Laughlin" after two.

I have no problem following The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, or The Wire, all of which are far better written and acted, and have a far more layered and intricate structure than FNL.

It's a very minor tragedy that The Wire never got a larger audience. I'm glad Simon & Burns got five years to tell the story, but I think they'd be the first to say, the real tragedy is that most of the social problems The Wire deals with are getting worse, not better.

FNL just doesn't play in that league. IMO.

I havent watched the wire, but I regularly watch the sopranos and I am a big fan of six feet under, they are both excellent shows, but they are not very relatable, I mean I dont know anybody that has even met anyone in a mafia gang, and as much as I love SFU, I feel that I usually cant relate, and some of the things that the characters do are unrealistic

FNL is an excellent series with great writing and acting that is extremely relatable, and it still deals with extremely big issues(like racism, rape and people with physical and mental issues) in a realistic way, and one of the best moments of the show is when a mother finds out her daughter wants to have sex, she becomes very angry and starts to tell her thats she is very young(15) and how she will not allow her, but it is told in such a realistic way, and finally I have seen a mother on tv acting normally to her kids having sex, in most other shows, the parents either accept it or take a short while before they finally realize their children are somehow old enough, that is unrealistic because most parents would never accept their kids having sex at such a young age

"Samantha Who is the #1 comedy on TV, over 16 million people watched" According to the promo.

It aired ONCE!!!

Whatever. Last year they advertised GA by saying it was the #1 show with "32 million fans"... when in fact they pushed together their first-run and then Friday repeat ratings to make that promo.

ABC is typically full of crap. It's starting to show a really steady habit of sinking its humongous hits within a few years (Desperate Housewives, Lost, Grey's Anatomy) and doesn't seem to have much that's all that new to offer.

ABC is in a good position this year, don't know what you're talking about. When were DH, GA, Lost sinked?

While most shows have fallen a little, Lost has fallen by about 50%, GA fell about 20% this year, and DH used to be getting over 20 million pretty regularly.

I'm just saying that those are their big three. In their second seasons, all three dipped majorly in quality and were hyped to the high heavens.
