I'm thrilled to hear that Viva Laughlin still out ranks Friday Night Lights in shows scene! Too bad it wasn't on NBC so it could replace it!

First of all, does it make anyone else as sick as it does me that "Viva Laughlin," though it will most likely air only one more time before being yanked, has already been seen by more people than the aforementioned "FNL?" What a sad commentary on the viewing choices of this country.

And secondly, this is a quote from today's Marc Berman article:
"Third in the hour was NBC’s relocated Friday Night Lights at a depressed 5.48 million viewers and a 1.9/ 6 in the demo. As I have said over and over again, if only they would stop the constant camera movement more viewers might actually tune in."

--Really! It's the camera shaking? That's why no one watches? Please, tell me that's not the case. Reassure me that you, Marc, and the rest of the American public doesn't have that severe a case of motion sickness that a small level of camera movement (that has beautifully kept in line with the movie from which this show is based) keeps you from watching the most talented cast on television act out the best writing network TV has to offer. Please. Tell me it's more than that. Tell me it's at least that you hate football, or that you think it's too teen-oriented. (Both of which wouldn't amount to a decent argument as far as I'm concerned, but at least it'd be better than the CAMERA MOVING!).

Wow. This show will most likely be cancelled this season, maybe even before it's done airing all of it's ordered episodes. And it's going to be a sad day when TV loses one of it's best shows in the last decade because people were getting headaches watching the camera move.

The camera work on FNL is really annoying. Don't know if people don't watch the show beacause of this but that was not a good directing option in my opinion

Things were going fine UNTIL VL. They gave it about 10% of the weeks lineup. Those horrible numbers for the 2 airings REALLY hurt the net. If they had WAT on thursday and ANYTHING ELSE on Sunday, they could have beat ABC for the Demo weekly win.

VL is not only the leak, but is on the verge of causing a major Flood, if it is not stopped in time.

Actually i expected worse numbers for VL.

DH is again improving (in overnights at least). Didn't expect that.

I wonder if CW will be patient with Life is Wild. Still don't get it why they put this show in a dead slot

Viva Laughlin will catch on soon. Just a bit more patience from CBS and they will see it gravitate from a struggling newcomer to the hit show of the century!

I guess the good news is that it didn't bring down Cold Case's numbers from a "normal" week (last week was boosted by football overrun).

I also second Marc's one more airing prediction. It goes with CBS' three-and-out philosophy (Smith, 3 Lbs.)

A third airing wouldn't do anything except give viewers the chance to flee the time slot next Sunday in advance.

CBS cancelled "The Will" after one episode, it can certainly cancel "Viva Laughlin" after two.

I doubt its the camera work. If most people are like me, they just don't care about the story it is telling. Its a high school football program and community. That setting may just not appeal to a large majority of viewers, no matter the quality of the production.

Sorry XwgX, but Viva Laughlin got squeezed out like a bad zit.

The only question to ask today is: Does it get cancelled this week, or next week?

I tried FNL. I didn't think the writing and acting were all that good. That's why I didn't go on watching. Not saying I thought the show was bad, because I didn't. I just didn't think it lived up to the hype.

I have no problem following The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, or The Wire, all of which are far better written and acted, and have a far more layered and intricate structure than FNL.

It's a very minor tragedy that The Wire never got a larger audience. I'm glad Simon & Burns got five years to tell the story, but I think they'd be the first to say, the real tragedy is that most of the social problems The Wire deals with are getting worse, not better.

FNL just doesn't play in that league. IMO.

CBS had a major football overrun last week, no overrun for most viewers this time out.

The Will was an unmitigated disaster both in terms of numbers and of the quality of the show. This is also an unmitigated disaster, but those numbers will probably translate into about 6.5 - 7.0 million viewers. I'm sure CBS is also hoping for some football overrun to boost numbers, and they do not really have anything they can plug it up with and be able to promote in a week (besides overused crime repeats, which I'm sure CBS is tired of using).

If they do use crime repeats, I think the underrated Numbers could go in the slot and bring it some nice exposure.

With Viva's overnights being a 4 something, look for a 3 something final rating when they are issued tomorrow. I predict that CBS will cancel Viva after next Sunday's show. Don't forget that next Sunday night will be game 4 of the World Series, which now includes the ratings magnent Red Sox. This will give CBS more time to groom an 8pm filler. CBS will try to get the Amazing Race ready for Sunday 8pm, but my opinion would be to move Cold Case to its old home of 8pm, after 60 Minutes (which had strong overnight #'s last night), and bring back the old CBS Sunday Night Movie-which did better than they are doing there now.

That would actually be a nice way of promoting the Friday Night show. But if anything, expect a CSI to be placed there.

But, depending on how fast CBS were to act, they could start promoting a new program in the 8pm slot tonight. That would give it a about a full week of promotion and viewers would be reqady for it in advance.

I don't think a new show/season can be launched successfully on a week's notice, especially slotted against the World Series. "Power of 10," which is essentially filler programming anyway, could be the only exception.

My guess is that CBS would simply plug in a crime drama rerun for next Sunday if "Viva Laughlin" gets pulled.

I agree on everything you said, I also didnt like the camera shaking at first, but it was an extremely minor issue and I got used to it, and now I think its genious because the way its shot makes you feel like you are right there with the characters, and I was more engrossed in the excellent writing and acting, its just that anything that is smart on tv gets cancelled because the public are much more interested in watching sh*t like american idol, I only wish this was on cable, then it would have a chance to survive
