Once DVR numbers are put in, the loss from last year is not as dramatic. But the slow story telling to start the season is taking its toll. November episodes had beeter be worth the wait. If Not, 2008 will be even tougher for NBC

Can Heroes rebound? or has it gone the way of Lost in terms of total viewers? meaning start out huge..sustain... creative lull.... lose viewers that don't come back for the most part... and then sort of level off in that 11M range ( with DVR numbers )

I think they should swap DOND and Chuck.. Chuck to Wed at 8:00 and DOND to Monday at 8:00.... They thought Heroes could carry the night with the two new series and Heroes isn't doing that.
And these numbers are without 24.. If 24 finds its way back creatively this year the NBC Monday could be a huge mess....
Its funny how Heroes is getting the backlash Lost did at the end of its second season and beginning of its third season. While DVRs can account for the lower viewership levels now, Lost did so much better until its scheduling debacle with taking a mid season hiatus (which I still feel was much more of a factor than the decline in quality). The Heroes producers were so damn cocky saying that they will NOT make the same mistakes as Lost and that they will answer questions. To me this season, they have had way too many characters, the emotional impact is lacking because "dead" characters come back to life even though they were convincingly killed, and the storylines are not inspiring. I can't wait until Lost comes back and flashforward kicks Heroes proverbial ass!
That being said, I still do like Heroes, but they need to watch it. Take it easy on the new characters and develop them. If you kill them off make sure you don't bring 80% of them back!

Good for SAMANTHA WHO...it deserves its ratings because Christina totally sells the character and the writing is witty like such past hits as CHEERS. I would just recast the dad with a better actor and phase out the boyfriend who is a killjoy and give the doorman more screen time.
CHUCK...looks it couldn't even pick up us PRISON BREAK fans who were bereft on a new ep. I went out and rented a DVD instead of turning to CHUCK..a lot of others must feel that way.
I really think that SW will be the biggest hit this fall, I mean if you look at the numbers of help me help you last year, SW is doing a lot better, and in a season where viewership is down, and retention out of DWTS is awesome, I think once dancing is over, it will hold pretty well
now here is what I dont get, why did abc waste the post SW slot on the bachelor, couldnt they have started the season with october road, especially in the first month when dancing led directly into the 10 pm hour
and if abc will put SW and NFTU at 9, then put OR at 10, what will they put at 8?

I dont believe ABC has put out their December schedule yet... so December may all be repeats and we may not know SW? real ratings numbers in a post DWTS slot until Jan 2008... starting Jan 7th ABC Mondays look like this..
8:00/7:00c - "Dance War" (Series Premiere) 9:00/8:00c - "Samantha Who?" 9:30/8:30c - "Notes from the Underbelly" 10:00/9:00c - "October Road"
Sam Who? is actually quite funny. It is not your typical family style sit-com, but instead a comedy more the likes of a Desperate Housewives. It is funny with the occasional touching moments. I am predicting that it will do well after DWTS ends its run. I am sure that it will drop maybe a couple of points, but it will be exactly what abc wants for that time period and that is a young female skewing show that has good demo #'s, not only that but it will still have a potent lead in with Dance War. All in all, abc will still rule this night outright.

How do you guys think the show is? How much of a drop do you expect when it loses the DWTS lead-in and going against Two and a Half Men?
HIMYM/Big Bang are slowly siphoning away Chuck viewers every week. Deservedly so, in my opinion. I'm just having trouble getting excited about watching Chuck every week. I think I may be done with it. Nice demos for 2.5 and Rules, as well. The CBS comedy night is chipping away at NBC.
The Samantha increase can probably in part be attributed to Dancing's own increase, but that demo retention is simply outstanding. The next real test will be in late November, but for now it's hard to say anything bad about what this show's doing. I still think the show's intriguing but never funny. Apparently a lot of people disagree.
I'm sad about Journeyman, which is really the only NBC Monday show I'm even looking forward to at this point. I'll continue to enjoy it as long as NBC keeps giving it reprieves, and maybe it'll end up getting the late-night burnoff theatre treatment like Kidnapped.
Nothing much here that we don't already know. "Journeyman" seems to have already been rejected. "Chuck" could go either way, I'd still look at reformatting it into a tighter half-hour show.
Tough to tell with "Samantha Who" on the ABC side but there seems to be real interest. Considering how a previous post-Dancing sitcom flopped ("Help Me Help You"), "Samantha Who" seems to have at least accomplished something.

I don't understand why ABC doesn't hype and schedule a new show like MIS/GUIDED that could be compatibe to SAMANTHA WHO, instead choosing a show that didn't do that good and what happens when the baby is born? NOTES IN THE UNDERBELLY should air in January on Tuesdays after ACCORDING TO JIM and against IDOL, where two shows that shouldn't have been picked up can continue the crappy ratings that ABC accepts (otherwise both wouldn't be back).
Maybe the reasoning behind the scheduling of SW and NFTU is that both concepts can't go on forever (amnesia, pregnancy). At least SW is a quality hit.
