Getting within 500k of that mark in January without Grey's support and the rest of the ABC lineup quickly falling apart is very good in my book. And as I said, people were saying it would get 8 million, which I agree would have still been okay.
On the other hand, Ugly Betting isn't facing Survivor right now. How much further will it fall (especially in the demo) when faced with stronger competition than out of timeslot reruns from CBS?

That is too funny Galveston, but I think it could be true!
Peace!
What does it say about the Supernatural fans that they feel the need to trumpet that their show can beat Crowned? Is this really just a smoke and mirror tactic to keep people from noticing how Supernatural does compared with One Tree Hill?
Umm... Supernatural has been steady around 3 million or just over this season. It's lowest rating was 2.88 million. OTH's last new episode was 2.72 million. Of course, that was against Idol, so next week may be better. Then again, Supernatural is up against CSI and GA every week... Even with OTH's big premiere, Supernatural seems to compare quite well.
I haven't been watching Supernatural this season, and I'm not a huge fan, but ratings-wise, OTH isn't exactly crushing it.

I didn't say anything abour 'crushing' or even 'beating'. I just wondered why the Supernatural fans would actually feel the need to brag about their show beating Crowned.

I can't really speak for them, but I figured it was kind of like saying CBS should replace Cane with CSI reruns since the latter gets better ratings..
Your "smoke and mirrors" comment seemed to imply that you thought Supernatural would compare badly to OTH, but it doesn't.

And FW would be another big-cost, not-megahit-enough-to-justify it serialized realationship show, while Marlowe would struggle as one of few male skewing show on ABC's chick lit schedule.

I don't think ABC is going to move EM:HE. It works far too well where it is. I agree Ugly Betty might have to move soon... but I don't know if next season is the time for it (because it's still the best ratings ABC has gotten with regular programming in that timeslot in ages). Depends on the development (if there is a pilot season). Changing timeslots always risks hurting the show more than helping. Not sure where you put it. I don't think Tuesdays @ 8pm is necessarily going to help it (why put it up against Idol for half the season?) Wednesdays @ 8pm might work out (I don't think that's the best place for Pushing Daisies). It would likely help Private Practice to have a better / more stable / proven lead-in (also, hilarious dig at PP last night on UB).
Don't know much about ABC's development slate, if anything comes of those projects, but I wonder if something in the vein of the new version of Cupid would work on Thursdays at 8pm? If it's like the old version, it'd light, airy, romantic comedy, and fairly episodic (so might actually repeat decently).
Good points Travis. I like the idea of Wednesdays leading into Private Practice, but again I acknowledge your caution about moving it from Thursdays if nothing better is in the development pipeline. I'm not overly impressed with the new development batch, aside from Cupid (which will largely depend on the leads -- Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall were great together, Life on Mars with Jason O'Mara, and Section 8, which sounds like a Heroes clone but may be a good Heroes clone.
Actually, as I mentioned in a seperate thread on the subject, I am much more excited about several cast-offs of previous ABC development seasons, most of which came close to getting series pick-ups but did not for one reason or another. See my detailed analysis on that here: http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/62910193/m/38110639
Compared to this year's batch, I agree start with Football Wives and Marlowe, but really the ones I mentioned are (at this stage) better than the upcoming cycle (again, with the exception of Cupid, Life on Mars, and Section 8).
As far as Secrets of a Small Town, I know they'd have to recast Angie Harmon's role, but Denise Richards should still be available as the other lead. And recasting/reshooting was assumed, and I think would be worth it.
TV-aholic, you'll be glad to know that Mr. Simmons' upcoming guest shot on Ugly Betty was heavly promoted after last night's episode, which incidentally featured a bit of "Rock and Roll All Night".

I'll Be checking it out. Hope I can stomach the rest of the show though.
When was the last time a network AVERAGED over a 10 in th 18-49 demo, not counting a superbowl week?
FOX has a good chance of doing it this week with the 2 American Idols and the NFC game sunday night. Its currently averaging about an 8.2 in the demo, based on Fast Nationals.

With ratings like this show gets, the only way it could make money is if the episodic budget was $1.98.
Actually, that's not a bad idea. Is Rip Taylor still available?
-- "Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."
Originally posted by Zitrone: ABC doesn't need to do that much changes; they are just badly affected by the strike.
They might think to move DH into GA's slot to anchor Thursday. Move DSM after DH with a Thursday line up of UG-DH-DSM.
Do you think ABC is going to base what they renew next season only on ratings alone? Everything has been down on ABC since Dec. I think ABC will consider on the fence shows for renewal based on other things such as !tune sales and cost per episode. Especially since alot of the on the fence shows are doing so poorly right now, it is hard to get an accurate gage on how some on the fence shows would do during a typical season without the strike. Plus, from what it sounds like here there is not a lot in development and this will be the case if the strike doesn't end soon. Just a thought.
