Wednesday into Private Practice and maybe Brothers and Sisters in the fall would be interesting but seeing as how ABC will likely have very few new shows next fall, I'm guessing it will keep most of its current lineup in tact with maybe only the last minute renewals to types like DSM and Men in Trees getting new timeslots.

ugly Betty may need to move, but I don't know if I would move EM:HE for it. Perhpas a Wednesday at 8pm would help. Thats been a pretty weak time period, competition-wise.

I don't think ABC is going to move EM:HE. It works far too well where it is. I agree Ugly Betty might have to move soon... but I don't know if next season is the time for it (because it's still the best ratings ABC has gotten with regular programming in that timeslot in ages). Depends on the development (if there is a pilot season). Changing timeslots always risks hurting the show more than helping. Not sure where you put it. I don't think Tuesdays @ 8pm is necessarily going to help it (why put it up against Idol for half the season?) Wednesdays @ 8pm might work out (I don't think that's the best place for Pushing Daisies). It would likely help Private Practice to have a better / more stable / proven lead-in (also, hilarious dig at PP last night on UB).

Don't know much about ABC's development slate, if anything comes of those projects, but I wonder if something in the vein of the new version of Cupid would work on Thursdays at 8pm? If it's like the old version, it'd light, airy, romantic comedy, and fairly episodic (so might actually repeat decently).

The Suarez's were in the hospital tending to Betty and Hilda comments that they it was like they were on Grey's Anatomy, to which Justin remarked "I miss Addison" and Hilda says "I know! Why'd she have to go do that Private Practice thing?" or something like that.

ABC doesn't need to do that much changes; they are just badly affected by the strike.

ABC was starting its downturn before the effects of the strike started to appear.

Once DWtS left the schedule, almost everything, except GA and the Sunday lineup dropped.

Some network needs to bring back the $1.98 Beauty show. It would probably be best fit on CW or maybe ABC.

What does ABC have in terms of pilots/new shows in fall 2008? Futon Critic has cleared the pilot entries for the network. They must have something in development. Even the CW has something.

Good points Travis. I like the idea of Wednesdays leading into Private Practice, but again I acknowledge your caution about moving it from Thursdays if nothing better is in the development pipeline. I'm not overly impressed with the new development batch, aside from Cupid (which will largely depend on the leads -- Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall were great together, Life on Mars with Jason O'Mara, and Section 8, which sounds like a Heroes clone but may be a good Heroes clone.

Actually, as I mentioned in a seperate thread on the subject, I am much more excited about several cast-offs of previous ABC development seasons, most of which came close to getting series pick-ups but did not for one reason or another. See my detailed analysis on that here: http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/62910193/m/38110639

Actually, Gene is not 'more popular' than Omarosa: at least not with the people that watch The Apprentice. As for the rest of your comment on The Apprentice, I agree. The show has never had much of anything to do with 'business'. On the other hand, we are talking about Donald Trump. If you want to know about his business sense, check out his stock 'TRMP' and look at its curve since it started a few years ago. The guy is nothing more than a scam artist that bilks suckers out of their money.

And Marf is right about 2 weeks worth of previews. It now look like the show is nothing more than they usally fighting and insulting Celebreality crap.[/QUOTE]

I haven't really paid any attention to Big Shots, because it was so obviously doomed the moment Rob Thomas got involved with it. Razzer

ABC has this pattern--they find a few big hits, and seem to be on their way to the top--then instead of building a winning slate around their hits, they make one boneheaded play after another, overleveraging the hits they've got, and ordering one bad overpriced drama after another, until they're right back where they started.

It's like basing your whole Monopoly strategy on getting Boardwalk and Park Place and putting up a few hotels.

In a few years, they'll have some more big trendy hits, and this forum will be humming with speculation about how THIS time they're going to be the #1 network for quite a while, and then it'll all come crashing down again.

It's their pattern, and they seem comfortable with it.

Wink

Big Grin Big Grin That is too funny Galveston, but I think it could be true!

Peace!

What does it say about the Supernatural fans that they feel the need to trumpet that their show can beat Crowned? Is this really just a smoke and mirror tactic to keep people from noticing how Supernatural does compared with One Tree Hill?

Running ER uninterrupted is a good idea. Putting it on Sunday night and expecting to attract DH fans makes no sense. DH is nothing like ER and the DH viewers already have B&S to occupy them if they want to stay awake for another hour on Sunday night.

Having seen all of the comedies and most of the dramas that were made into pilots, as least in their old forms (at this point, especially thingks like Secret of a Small Town where the lead is no longer available, recasting and reshooting would be needed), the only ones I can agree with looking at again are Football Wives (if DSM can be a moderate sized hit, FW would've been much bigger... it's an easier sell, too) and Marlowe (though the brilliance of the Marlowe pilot was in Jason O'Mara, who is going to be the lead in the US version of Life on Mars). And FW would be another big-cost, not-megahit-enough-to-justify it serialized realationship show, while Marlowe would struggle as one of few male skewing show on ABC's chick lit schedule.
