Come on guys, keeping Crowned is one of CW's best decisions in years. Its a compelling show! Given a little time to grow, this is going to be the CW's highest rated show.

Yes, I'm kidding. Even for the CW, that renewal is a bizarre move.

what math are you using for your conclusion? Other than Thanksgiving, it is pretty low.

Actually, after all the discussion in the other thread the Ugly Betty was down, 9.5 million viewers is much closer to a season high than a season low. Considering that anchor Grey's was a rerun, I'd say UB did really good, especially in light of ABC's woes elsewhere.

As for Celebrity Apprentice, can anyone explain why NBC showed previews of the next two telecasts? As a fan, did I really need to know now who will still be around in two weeks? That took away all the anticipation.
It will be interesting to see what next weeks numbers will be. They fired the more popular and strongest contestant last night (Mr. Gene Simmons). And Marf is right about 2 weeks worth of previews. It now look like the show is nothing more than they usally fighting and insulting Celebreality crap.

The following results are based on the fast affiliate ratings (Live Plus Same Day data)

-Total Viewers:
CW: 2.52

-Adults 18-49:
CW: 1.0/ 3

a repeat of the CW’s Smallville (Viewers: 2.68 million; A18-49: 1.1/ 3). Damn that dreaded “R” word!

and a repeat of the CW’s Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 2.36 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 2).

Surprisingly unusual, The CW gets 0.8-0.9 in demo every Thursday and Smallville and Supernatural got fine numbers for The CW. I guess its the taste or the weather. heheheeheh

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Ugly Betty's ratings decline happened the moment Fox put 5th Grader against it (and stole a considerable chuck of whatever younger, male audience Ugly Betty was getting, as well as parents), but the show has remained at that level ever since. It's not getting any lower, despite the serialized nature of the show.

See the ratings for Ugly Betty on February 8, 2007 and February 15, 2007 (last original without 5th Grader against is) versus episodes including and after it's return with originals on March 15, 2007. You'll see until February 15, 2007, Ugly Betty oscillates around 14 million viewers and a 4.5 in the demo. After it ranges around 10 million and slightly above a 3 in the demo.
quote:
Fox’s underrated Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? led the 8 p.m. hour, with a healthy 11.50 million viewers and a 3.7 rating/10 share among adults 18-49. Comparably, this was an improvement of an average 6.14 million viewers and 85 percent among adults 18-49 over year-ago occupants ‘Til Death (Viewers: 5.10 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 6) and The War at Home (Viewers: 4.32 million; A18-49: 1.9/ 5). Congratulations, Jeff Foxworthy and J.P. Williams! Second was ABC’s Ugly Betty at 9.52 million viewers and a 3.0/ 8 among adults 18-49. One year-earlier, however, Ugly Betty was considerably stronger at 14.10 million viewers and a 4.5/12 in the demo.

CSI is not just another series airing a repeat. It still commands 14-16 million on those nights. And... It may have a small, outside chance of beating Celebrity Apprentice. the fast nationals are only seperated by 220K viewers.

Although I don't watch DFTL, it is on the rise and is trying to take advantage of the lack of fresh episodes of Greys and CSI.

Based on recent history, who would not have laughed if I told you a year ago that FOX would pull 8.5 - 9 million at 9pm on a Thursday Night, and come in third, perhaps 2nd???

Well, ER was able to repeat very well until last year, so... 12 years sounds about right for CSI.

As long as the originals are pulling big numbers, so will the repeats. Once interest falls for the originals, CSI, or any show for that matter, will see the repeats fall off dramatically too.

I still don't understand WHY the Kodak exect's chose the mens presentation over the ladies.

The fact that only 4 episodes this season cracked 10 million, and those were 2 of the first 3 and the other 2 in the November sweeps. Getting within 500k of that mark in January without Grey's support and the rest of the ABC lineup quickly falling apart is very good in my book. And as I said, people were saying it would get 8 million, which I agree would have still been okay.

The week ending Oct. 1, UB drew 16.32 million viewers. It dropped to 14.26 the following week and then to 13.95 after that.

it stayed above 13 million until the week ending Nov. 12, 2006 when it drew just 12.81 million viewers. The next time it hit 13 mill was the week ending Dec. 3rd, 2006. (13.02 million)

The first 3 weeks of UB in 2007, drew 11.65 mill, 13.49 million and 14.1 million. It also drew 14 million on Feb 1st, 2007.

It wasn't until March 2007 that UB started is decline of viewers, and only drawing about 10 million, or so.

I don't really remember UB getting over 14 million viewers last season, especially in the second half where it started to fall off. I think its best ratings were in November of season 1, and those were around 12 million. Marc, are you sure that's not a typo??

I agree with you Travis. With that in mind, do you think UB should move next season, perhaps to Sundays at 8pm as a lead-in to DH (allowing EM:HE to anchor another night), or to Tuesdays @ 8pm in the Fall, leading into DWTS: Results?

If ER is given one last season, they should hold it back until mid-season and place it on Sunday Nights at 10pm.

having the fall of might creat a little mor anticipation for the finals season and a new night might get it some fresh eyes. Who knows, it could see some Desperate Housewives viewers switch channels, if it did.

ugly Betty may need to move, but I don't know if I would move EM:HE for it. Perhpas a Wednesday at 8pm would help. Thats been a pretty weak time period, competition-wise.

Does anyone have handy the W18-34 numbers for the 10 pm shows last night? I'm curious to see how Big Shots compared to ER and Without a Trace.

I think moving timeslots would only hurt it more now. Look at what happened to the West Wing when it moved in its final season and that was after a season finale the year before that was up in total viewers from the previous year. I think perhaps 13 final episodes in the fall would be an alright thing so the network could get another show ready for midseason.
