But, GW was stronger last year as well. So, i think t is premature to conclude that CTH was the stronger show.

To justify HBO's decision, btw, to renew Tell Me You Love Me for a second season, they are saying that 3.1 million watch the show over the course of seven airing from Sunday-Saturday in a given week. They did the same thing when they renewed Flight Of The Conchords.

Ultimitely, as they have said, they saw more promise in those two programs for the future than a show like John From Cincinati, which was axed.

Anyone else seen the Pushing Daisies promo that is running..

"last week 27 Million viewers were touched"

say what?

That's the total number of people who watched for 5 minutes or more or something like that.

There's alot of controversy with that.

not to mention HBO is a mess.... first time in a LONG time they dont have a hit on the lineup... and may be the first time.. well since I dont know when... they dont have any Emmys nods in the big categories....

The Spielberg Band Of Brothers Part Two can't get on the air soon enough... and Geeez.... shoot the Deadwood movies already....

And I just saw a promo touting Carpoolers and Cavemen as the #1 new hour of comedy on tv. That's great and all, but it's the only hour of comedy on any network that has 2 new shows, so this is true by default.

I have no idea where ABC got the 27 million for PD from, that's like more than twice what it really got.

I hate when the networks do that. And they all do it.

Tell Me you Love Me is a very good show, with great writing and great actors, where as John From Cincinnati had a great cast that was completely wasted. It was the most inane piece of garbage I've seen on tv in quite some time.

True...but I find what they have on the air currently to be quite awesome.

Tell Me You Love Me is amazing; Flight Of The Conchords is hysterical, and Big Love is more than likely, their golden series right now.

I think they have a new comedy with Lily Tomlin arriving soon which looks good and some new therapist-type drama with Gabriel Byrne that will air five nights a week in telenovela fashion.

I like Entourage and Curb.. but those shows and the ones they have on the lineup and upcoming are all niche shows. Cant'see any of them bringing Sporanos,SATC,Six Feet Under and a host of others type ratings...

In Treatment with GB seems sooooo risky.... five nights a week and they ordered 8 weeks out of the gate....

Yes, that does seem risky..but...no guts/ no glory. I know I will tune in. Seems like a cool idea, and with HBO, it could be fantastic.

And I can't believe I forgot to mention Entourage and Curb. Curb is having a fantastic season and Entourage just ended. I thought the last season of Entourage was weak, but I might feel that way because SO MANY new episodes aired in the last 6 months. It began to get stale as time went on.

I think HBO is going to push Big Love, Entourage, and Curb big time when the emmy season rolls around, and I would expect all three shows to get a decent number of nominations.

I think I'll stick with Marc's analysis.... any show that could perform decent on a Friday night s/b considered a winner.

I wish HBO would push Flight Of the Conchords for Emmy consideration, as well as The Wire.

Yeah I have... several times. I think they add together the half-hours or something. This isn't the first time I've seen a network do it and I'm sure it won't be the last.

They may push both, but it is really hard to get an emmy nomination now. The system is so weird. It is a combination of popular votes + tapes, and the popular vote is basically people voting for those they know and stars and series they watch. If not many people know of the cast of the shows, or watch it, it will rank low on the popular vote. Then...they would need to rank extremely high on the viewing vote to get the nomination. Not to easy.

I think that is where so many shows last season missed out on nominations. Friday Night Lights is a good example. Rumor has it that it did quite well on the viewing portion of the voting (voters watch the episodes and ranked it high), but it was nearly dead last on the popular vote. So..once those votes added in, NO nomination.
