I will disagree slightly Smiler Skewing older than I though it would but still Moonlight is getting 1000% times more blog and fan reaction on line then Close To Home did.

CBS has to be happy about having something that is talked about online...

I know this belongs in the Sunday thread, but HBO has renewed Tell Me You Love Me for a second season!!! Smiler

FNL averaged 6.1 million last year. The finale drew 6.26 million, so the numbers are up slightly.

CBS's friday lineup is slowly but surely going down. NBC might give CBS a run for their money in the future

U are absolutely right, but tell that to CBS. They cancelled Close to Home which was doing 10+ million viewers and 2.5 in demos beacause it skewed so old. If Moonlight stays at this levels it will be lucky to survive one season. But nothing more

I disagree .. CBS seems much more behind Moonlight so I think these ratings could mean ordering additional episodes and possibly a renewal in the works but yes it is still early yet and anything can happen of course but still this show was written off as dommed from the start yet people are watching and it shows !!

Oh yeah CBS will be very pleased with the blog reactions. They look at the numbers not on the internet blogs. They already made a mistake by renwing Jericho. I doubt they'll do it again

Which is not good because a season premiere typically has an artificial ratings spike...

Yes, but it's on a night with much lower HUT levels. I think if it holds there, and continues to win/tie in the demo, NBC will be pretty happy. You can live with those numbers on a Friday night.

If FNL can hold 6 million and a tied/win demo with CBS, NBC will definitely keep it on the air for the season, and perhaps order a third. Good news for FNL fans. I was expecting 4-5 million and a lower demo, so whew......

Fairly small week-to-week drop for Moonlight. I would imagine NBC is relatively happy with the FNL start. I agree with Marc that there are no true losers, though I think Vegas is pretty disappointing, and the Ghost Whisperer year-to-year erosion is a little disturbing.

Once again, I strongly agree that NBC needs to get 1 vs. 100 back to this night!

cant really judge GW or any other show for that matter on year to year till DVR #s come out week after next...

There have been some great articles in NY Times, LA Times and other papers quoting most insiders in thinking shows will see between 12% all the way up to 30% spikes with DVR numbers...

I would guess Friday would be a heavy DVR night as a lot of people go out...

If there was a loser last night (or biggest disappointment) you would have to say Vegas was it. A 2.2 demo and less than 8 million viewers is not good. Unless Vegas is a DVR darling (which I doubt) it is not good news for Vegas. I wonder if Numbers would do even better on Tuesday at ten.

AS for FNL, I've had some fun with the show about high school football being put on the high school football night of the week, but those numbers are actually better than I thought. The Friday slot will probably still be the death of what has to be a pretty expensive show for its timeslot. Still, a tiny hope for its fans, I suppose.

Moonlight probably won't survive past this season either. However, if nothing else I can see its retention out of GW being better this year than Close to Home.

No, CBS' sole purpose for cancelling C2H and replacing it with Moonlight was not just to get younger. It was to make a profit. C2H was a very expensive show to produce, and the advertisers were not willing to pay the ad rates necessary to cover the show's costs because it not only had low 18-49 demo numbers but it also didn't appeal to the more affluent and desirable demo specific groups. When CBS crunched the numbers, Moonlight was their only potential profit-maker for the hour, other than reality, so they went with that. Now, are the ratings spectacular? No! However, if they remain consistent, CBS will probably make more money on this show by November than they did all last season on C2H.

Mission accomplished!

early reports have the 10PM hour the most DVR'd hour on TV so Las Vegas should see a bump. How much who knows? I agree though it's looking more like a loser than a winner....
