-Ratings Breakdown: A night of repeats on CBS led CBS to a victory in total viewers, but ABC was No. 1 among adults 18-49. CBS’ How I Met Your Mother moved into the 8 p.m. half-hour (its former home) with 4.89 million viewers (#2) and a 1.5/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#2t). That led into repeats of Rules of Engagement (Viewers: #3, 4.80 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 5), which returns in midseason, Two and a Half Men (Viewers: #1, 8.57 million; A18-49: #1, 2.5/ 7), recently relocated The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #1, 7.27 million; A18-49: #2, 2.3/ 6) and CSI: Miami (Viewers: #1, 7.93 million; A18-49: #1, 1.8/ 5) from 8:30-11 p.m.
Over at ABC was another two-hour installment of The Bachelorette (Viewers: 6.80 million; A18-49: 2.3/ 7) from 8-10 p.m.) and sophomore Here Come the Newlyweds (Viewers: #3, 4.08 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 4), which is unlikely to be granted a third season. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown for The Bachelorette:
The Bachelorette (ABC) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.59 million (#1), A18-49: 2.1/ 7 (#1) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.67 million (#1), A18-49: 2.2/ 7 (#1) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.81 million (#2), A18-49: 2.3/ 6 (#2) 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 7.13 million (#2), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#1)
NBC kicked-off this fourth Monday in June with a two-hour installment of the inane (but oddly addictive) I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! at a not-so-spectacular 6.80 million viewers and a 2.3. 7 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! (NBC) 8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.33 million (#4), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#2t) 8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.41 million (#4), A18-49: 1.6/ 5 (#3) 9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.16 million (#3), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#3) 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.30 million (#3), A18-49: 1.6/ 4 (#3)
To the empty headed people (like me) who spent another two-hours of their lives watching I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, what was the point of bringing back Holly if she would be eliminated the next day? And why did she even qualify to be on the show to begin with if she started late? Are there no rules to this reality/competition? As for perennial reality contestant Stephen Baldwin quitting, that whole thing seemed planned to me, didn’t it?
NBC capped off the evening with Dateline with 5.05 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 1.4/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. You know it is the summer when Dateline pops up everywhere.
Fox aired repeats of House (Viewers: #2, 4.92 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.6/ 5) and relocated Lie to Me (Viewers: #4, 3.82 million; A18-49: #4, 1.2/ 3). And the CW capped off the evening with encore telecasts of Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5, 1.00 million; A18-49: #5, 0.4/ 1) and One Tree Hill (Viewers: #5, 750,000; A18-49: #5, 0.3/ 1). Don’t forget that Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill flip time periods next season.
Interesting that The Bachlorette is continuing to fall in the ratings as it gets closer to the finale. Historically, it should be gaining ratings. Perhaps a clear sign that the season was miscast and not appealing to the audience.
Again this week, another decent retention for LTM out of House. This will be an interesting pair to watch on Mondays. I think they will be very compatible.
I'll watch The Good Wife until it's cancelled in October. (The only thing going for it that could possibly work for them is that it is on CBS and Dumont has a vendetta against them...)
Wow, 6.8 million viewers for I'm a Celebrity? From the half hour breakdowns, seems like it should be somewhere around 4.3 million viewers. Oddly enough, 6.8 is way too high for the show, yet 4.3 sounds low. Which one is it?
Well, HIMYM moved to 8pm, and it saw lower than usual repeat numbers. I'd expect it to get around 7-8 million viewers this fall, which oddly enough, would put it in the same ballpark as Old Christine/Gary Unmarried. If ROE is doing those those numbers at 8:30, it'll be scary to see what Accidentally on Purpose will bring in.
Big Bang Theory saw very good retention this week, especially since Two and a Half Men was down about 2 million for some odd reason. That is a great demo for BBT once again.
I must admit looking at those CBS sitcom numbers for the 8:00 hour has me very, very nervous. I was hoping HIMYM would do better than that. BBT got 6.1 million and a 1.9 demo at 8:00 last week. BBT continues to do well at 9:30 with 85% total viewer retention and 92% demo retention, but if HIMYM bombs in that 8:00 time slot CBS may be forced to move BBT back to 8:00 to save the night. If HIMYM bombs at 8:00 it will bring AOP down with it, and CBS cannot have that happen. Come on HIMYM, let's start pulling up those numbers ! (maybe some of its viewers did not know it was on at 8:00 this week).

Am I the only one who finds the decision to move BBT ridiculous? I'm not sold that its going to do all that much better than Rules did this spring.
Celebrity seems to be holding on. Another fairly blah episode. This would've been much better if celebs were getting eliminated each night. It should go up 2nite with America's Got Talent as the show to follow it at 9pm.
Bachelorette seems like a miscast. ABC should've used Newleyweds on Sundays from 9 to 11 this past January and that would've allowed for nonstop new Housewives/B&S. The chimps score again.
I'm interested in seeing how big Jon and Kate went last night. Talk about total trash TV!
Speaking of trash, who can't wait for Big Brother!!
You really are something. It's week one of the new time slots. HIMYM is not going to bomb. The worst it will do is its former 8pm numbers, which were good enough to keep it on the air in the past and I'm sure it will be this time around. If Accidentally on Purpose fails, its because the show isn't any good. Speaking of BBT, I'm not really sold this show can become a monster hit. I know almost as many people who hate the show as many as like it. The nerds concept can only go so far I think.

Will you stop this idiotic nonsense. BBT retained 92% of the Men demo, and has done that every week. ROE never did more than 75-80%. The concern here is HIMYM, who was living off the BBT lead in, may bomb at 8:00. BBT will be CBS's highest rated 9:30 show since Men was at 9:00 after Raymond. The problem is if the 8:00 hour bombs it nullifies it.

This is an easy one, its obviously going to be The Forgotten on ABC. This ABC's first chance of making a crime drama work since CBS is not programming one here.
