-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS and NBC shared leadership on this first official Sunday of the summer season. CBS was the most-watched network with its combination of veteran 60 Minutes (Viewers: #1, 8.88 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3 rating/4 share), Million Dollar Password (Viewers: #1, 8.29 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 5), a repeat of Cold Case (Viewers: #2, 7.29 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 4), and a repeat of Criminal Minds (Viewers: #2, 6.89 million; A18-49: #2, 1.7/ 5).

NBC aired U.S. Olympic Trials: Women’s Gymnastics, Day 2 (Viewers: 6.24 million; A18-49: 1.9/ 7), which built in every half-hour, and a two-hour edition of Dateline (Viewers: 8.23 million; A18-49: 2.3/ 6 from 9-11 p.m.), which is always overused in the summer. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown for both shows:

U.S. Olympic Trials: Women’s Gymnastics, Day 2 (NBC)
7:00 p.m. Viewers: 5.24 million (#2), A18-49: 1.5/ 6 (#1)
7:30 p.m. Viewers: 5.60 million (#3), A18-49: 1.8/ 6 (#1)
8:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.65 million (#2), A18-49: 2.1/ 7 (#1)
8:30 p.m. Viewers: 7.48 million (#2), A18-49: 2.4/ 7 (#1)

Dateline (NBC)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 6.97 million (#2), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#3)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 7.93 million (#1), A18-49: 2.2/ 6 (#2)
10:00 p.m. Viewers: 8.90 million (#1), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#1)
10:30 p.m. Viewers: 9.03 million (#1), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#1)

ABC finished third in both total viewers and adults 18-49 care of encore telecasts of America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #2, 5.52 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 5), two episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Viewers: 6.21 million; A18-49: 1.9/ 6 from 8-10 p.m.), and a 10 p.m. edition of Desperate Housewives (Viewers: #3, 3.19 million; A18-49: #3, 1.1/ 3). As usual, the residents of Wisteria Lane do no repeat well!

Fox had little of note with its repeat line-up of Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Viewers: #4, 2.30 million; A18-49: #4, 0.8/ 3), two episodes of The Simpsons (Viewers: #4, avg. #4, 4.10 million; A18-49: #2, avg. 1.9/ 6), Family Guy (Viewers: #4, 5.42 million; A18-49: #1, 2.6/ 7) and American Dad (Viewers: #4, 4.48 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.2/ 6). And the CW capped off the evening with encore telecasts of One Tree Hill (Viewers: 683,000, A18-=49: 0.3/ 1), Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: 697,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 1), canceled Aliens in America (Viewers: 678,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 1), The Game (Viewers: 882,000; A18-49: 0.4/ 1) and Girlfriends (Viewers: 872,000; A18-49: 0.4/ 1), which ranked a distant fifth, of course, in every half hour.

Thanks Marc.

Million Dollar Password is having the same downward trajectory that Power of 10 had. Its demo is just awful.

Good Morning, Marc.

I heard over the weekend that NBC has extended its contract with Notre Dame to continue showing its football games through 2015. This is the same Notre Dame team that won only thrice last year, had 1.9 ratings, and allowed Navy to win after a 40 year drought.

My question is this: Has Ken Schanzer & Ben Silverman been hanging out with Amy Winehouse?

Marc, Fox aired King of the Hill at 8:30pm, not The Simpsons.

IMO, Million Dollar Password is still doing well. It is still first in it's timeslot. The demo is low, but what was CBS expecting with 60 Minutes as a lead in? Plus it hasent be on since last Thursday. Maybe that had an effect?

Overall, I think CBS should bring it back for next summer. It's a good filler.

I was hoping that the end of the current contract would allow Notre Dame to FINALLY enter the Big Ten Conference, like it should have done a dozen+ years ago.

Now, we may have to wait another 7-8 years before it happens.

Now that Summer has Officially started, can/will any 8pm show ever reach a 2.0 in the demo?

Seems like a streatch for any program to achive.

The numbers are not great, but they are as good as can be expected, IMO.

Would be interested to see how Password would do in a cold weather month, like December.

I'm not bothered that PASSWORD is fading...I really don't want to see primetime overrun by gameshows...they have their place...or they use to anyway...in the mornings before the soaps.

I want to see more scripted dramas in the evenings because eventually my favorite like PRISON BREAK, 24 ect are going to run their course and we need some good replacements.

Probably would be a POWER OF 10 during the strike type bomb.

I'm not shocked at the audience loss for Password, because it isn't really that much of a drop from it's last episode. The demo is terrible, but it's summer.

If CBS were to try it in maybe January or February, my guess is it would get similar ratings to what The Price is Right got in primetime. They should give it a shot.
