Please don't remind me of Fox's decision to kill Back to You and Til Death on Fridays. Why can't they just put Trading Spouses and Nanny 911 there already?

De facto maybe. It wasn't the last one they made. Actually, I think it was the first one they made for the second season.

Unless we were expecting her to be pregno forever.

"Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."

Sadly, after all the changes and stuff, this is still one of ABC's better comedies. Certainly better than the junk that's aired on Tuesdays this season.

Actually FOX is doing very well on Fridays with repeats of House and Bones. They might as well stick with that, and maybe even try new episodes of Bones on Friday's next season. As much as I did not think that would work when they had previously announced at the end of last season that it would be airing on Fridays at some point this season, I think new episodes of Bones would do very well. Surely it would be the top rated show on Friday nights (with the possible exception of Numbers).

I would like to hear McPherson's explanation for airing Grey's and Desperate Housewives each Friday instead of anything else that could probably get more viewers.

Mushu_jj, why do you insist on insulting the chimpanzee population? We all know that chimps don't run ABC - it's run by "crab people."

Sadly Marc, I don't see Fridays improving much for ABC and NBC even when the strike bait repeats are done in late March/April.

ABC has to drop that ridiculous Grey's/DH repeat combo on Friday. If they're going to air reruns, at least air like EM:HE or something that will pull a better number than a serialized drama.

I agree. The second House repeat almost pulled a 3.0 in the demo last night. I don't think FOX could (realistically) expect any better than that.

ABC needs to cancel all of its half-hour comedies (except maybe for Samantha Who?) and just "Start Over".

FOX Sits Atop All Networks After 16 Days of the 2008 February Sweep:

After 16 days of the February Sweep, FOX sits atop all the other networks with a dominant first place in all key measures. The mammoth FOX lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous, record-breaking Super Bowl numbers, the powerhouse American Idol numbers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reliable ratings strength on every other night.

In the young audience A18-49 demo that advertisers crave, FOX has the most nightly wins, having beaten the other networks on 10 out of 16 nights so far (one tie), followed by ABC and NBC both having three nightly wins each (one NBC win was a tie with FOX).

After 16 days, ABC holds a tiny 0.06 advantage over NBC for second place in the A18-49 demo, while NBC in turn is only 0.09 ahead of CBS in fourth. However, CBS has a firm grip on second place in households and viewership, while NBC has pulled into third place in both households and viewership.

After 16 days, FOX and MyNetworkTV are both showing solid double-digit improvement over their numbers from last year. All the remaining networks are showing significant double-digit year-over-year declines, with NBC showing the least year-over-year slippage (-18% in demo, -14% in households, and -13% in viewers) while CBS, who were last year's Super Bowl broadcaster, is faring worst (-62% in demo, -49% in households, -55% in viewers) due to its large proportion of encore programming as a result of the writers strike.

After 16 days, the six networks are showing smaller-than-expected (given the strike and increased use of DVR's) year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo down by -11%, households are down by -11% on a year-over-year basis, while viewership is down by -8% year-over-year.

You really have to question who the scheduling geek is over at ABC. Of all the networks, they sure have made a debacle of their lineup during the strike.

Their only defense is their shows don't repeat well - but they could've done better with theatricals on Friday than the repeat garbage they have on.

And the way they've scheduled Boston Legal (and now almost letting it die) is nearly unforgivable.

You're right. Perhaps I should start calling them martians or something. Wink

SWho has potential but expecting a freshman comedy to hold audience when the lead in drops in half was ridiculous imo. What ABC needs more than anything are good old family comedies and lots of them. If I were in charge, I'd find people to put together 5 or 6 of them for next year and pick the best four for at least 6 episodes a piece.

Hey, if they want it to be repeat night, I'm find with that but neither of those comedies can handle a move to Fridays at this point. Both should be airing around Idol this strike season with their remaining new eps and maybe air 2 or 3 repeats around it as well for more exposure. Then next fall, relaunch them on Wednesdays after a summer of repeats around SYTYCD and Moment of Truth.

Next week's ABC schedule is a repeat of Grey's Anatomy then 2 hours of 20/20. I think it will be stronger next week. 20/20 will pull a solid 6 million or up. I think ABC will beat the CW next week.

EDIT:
Remember a few months ago ABC showed 4 repeats of Samanta Who on Saturday, and they each pulled around 4 million people? Those were repeat episodes and on a Saturday. On a Friday with new episodes, I think it could easily get 6-7 million viewers.

My Friday ABC Schedule:
8:00 - According to Jim
8:30 - Notes from the Underbelly/Samanta Who?
9:00 - Women's Murder Club
10:00 - 20/20
