I will agree with all of these, but I would have also given ANTM an 'Honorable Mention' for reaching its highest viewer and demo number in 2 Cycles. With the coming extended direct competition from American Idol, numbers for next Cycle will likely be down significantly.
I understand that most shows do lost viers after the premiere, but the Office has lost viewers almost each and every week. As for your example, Bones and CSI have been mostly stable this season and BONES has actually grown since its early September premiere.
OC and GU have been GROWING since its premiere, so there is where the Honorable Mention comes from.

Nothing in this article made sense in comparison to the quote. I can't even tell if a claim was made that DVRs/etc... are hurting serialized dramas because people have other ways to watch the shows. is this article a legitimate rebuttal or simply an off-topic spew about declining viewership using the quote as an excuse for its existence?
I will say this: serialized dramas are hurt most by alternative viewing because people do need to sit down and watch a show when it airs IF people are talking about that show at the watercooler the next day. You can sit down and watch one of those procedurals any old time because not only can you view them in any order, you don't have to worry about anyone 'spoiling' them for you by telling you what happened. on the other hand, for Reality TV competitions or serialized dramas, you have to watch them in order and BEFORE coming into contact with other similiarly interested human beings. Because of this requirement, more people are giving up on serialized dramas in favor of non-TV things (internet) or TV that does not require 'dedication tot he subject'.
Chuck really hasn't shown any growth this season. It may be up (a little) from last week, but it is staying in that same 6.80ish average for most of the season with a 2.6 demo. its been up, its been down.
BTW, Their is no ONE criteria, IMO. Different factors may come in play for different series on different nights.

Jesus, I really do hope ABC cancels DIRTY SEXY MONEY this season. The writing of the second season is not only an insult for the cast, but also for the intelligence of the viewers. I mean, how crappy has the show become with every single episode this season? Last season it was intelligent and fun, this season it's a huge disappointment. The show could have been so good...it has a great cast, had interesting characters and had great potential. All the changes they made were not for the better...
I do hope however the ratings for LIFE increase, while I am still bitter about them replacing Robin Weigert with Donald Logue, the show still kept everything that made it so good last season.
PUSHING DAISIES is dead with these numbers. I really hoped for an increase.
The quality of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried definitely reflect in its ratings - last weeks episode, which was down a lot, was one of the worse episodes of the season. But last night, both shows were at their best in quality - especially Christine. Both finally went over 8 million, and Gary built on OC. A very good sign, competition or no competition.
