I'm suprised no ones pointed out the big drop Miami had. It's gotten a lot weaker this year.

It's just the general trend of the 10:00 hour that will only continue to get weaker and weaker in the future. I'm also sure that it was negatively impacted by The Andromeda Strain. A&E had a CSI: Miami marathon all day yesterday, and I'm thinking that many of the show's fans that may have tuned into A&E throughout the day watced AS in lieu of another Miami repeat.

Oh please. Miami has fallen hard this year, down as much as 20% some weeks and falling below a 4.0 in the demo at times. Is the 10 o'clock hour down? I suppose the argument could be made, but a lot of the shows airing at 10pm are also simply aging. Medium bucked the trend this year by showing year to year improvement against Miami.

I was thinking the same thing. Considering that was the 4th or 5th showing of that The Big Bang Theory episode last night it was pretty impressive for it to finish first in its time slot.

According to this Futon Critic Link, the episode aired for the 3rd time last night.

Still a solid number for the third repeating.

I'm not doubting the decline in Miami at all. CBS and Bruckheimer really need to tighten up the show in terms of both writing and directing next year if they want to stop the bleeding and hopefully regain some fans. However, I still think that last night's numbers were an anamoly, and we'll see the show rebound a tad in the next few weeks.

BTW, why is there no Swingtown forum in the Summer 2008 section?? Frowner

Ya it will likely fluctuate quite a bit this summer. I also am looking forward to Swingtown, which is almost as much un-CBS as Viva Laughlin was.

I can't wait for Swingtown, the promos look amazing(and CBS is running a ton of them), but I just can't help but feel the show doesn't fit on network TV, much less CBS. I'm hoping it can do well though. It's the only original scripted show I'm watching this summer.

It is summertime. It is perfectly normal for regular season shows that are still airing this time of year to be airing episodes for the third time. All the other CBS shows were on their 3rd airing as well and the event passed by for them without any artificial hype that they were on their 4th or 5th airing.

I forgot there was a marathon all day. It makes sense now why those numbers were lower.

Obveeus is right. All if the CBS comedies had similar numbers last summer and will do the same this summer. BBT isn't doing that well right now that it needs constant praise.

If you want to get technical here Obveeus and you are both wrong. BBT did great compared to HIMYM at 8:00 last Memorial Day. Here is HIMYM last Memorial Day at 8:00 vs. BBT this year :

How I Met Your Mother kicked-off for CBS with 5.37 million viewers (#2) and a 1.8 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 (#2)

The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #1, 6.39 million; A18-49: #1, 2.0 rating/6 share)

So what if it beat HIMYM? It wasn't by that big of a margin since their 18-49 shares were both a 6. I didn't say it was an awful number, I just said it was average. Its performance was not praiseworthy.

Interesting attempt to divert the subject. To this point, there had been no discussion at all about how BBT this year vs. HIMYM from a year ago. The discussion was about the incorrect claim that BBT was on its 4th or 5th airing. All I did was point out that it was on its 3rd airing, just like the rest of the CBS shows Monday night. I didn't even point out that BBT performed worse than the other four CBS shows. However, since you insist on singling that one show out, I am obliged to report how it did in comparison to the rest. Wink

I stand corrected. It did a pretty good job for a repeat being shown for a third time as compared to HIMYM last Memorial Day for a show that probably was being shown a second time. Does that make you happy ?

Forget about the demo this time of year. No one younger viewers watch at 8:00 on Memorial Day. 1 million more viewers is nothing to sneeze about. I don't care if they are 20 or 80, the bottom line is a million more people watched.

Yes, it made me happy as I got to laugh at your logic once again.
